The rumours were true: SMITE is officially coming to the PlayStation 4. The uber-popular MOBA will enter alpha testing on Sony's system today, with a closed beta set to follow in early March. You can register for a chance to partake in that through here. We've just booked reviewer Alex Stinton into rehab just to ensure that he doesn't have a relapse.
When the game eventually launches, it will be free-to-play on the PS4. As with other versions, you'll have access to five gods (Ymir, Thor, Neith, Guan Yu, and Ra) without needing to pay a penny. Others will be rotated in, too. You'll be able to unlock additional heroes during special community events or using in-game currency.
Alternatively, the Founders Pack will be available for $29.99/£20.99, and will unlock all present and future gods, alongside 400 gems and some bonus skins. PlayStation Plus members will unlock a bonus skin as well, while there'll be even more goodies up for grabs if you link your PC account to the PS4. There's a trailer embedded below.

I can get behind this business model. F2P or pay a one time only fee to get all present and future content. My only worry is with me been a solo only gamer (even online) can I really play this without needing to communicate to my team?
@adf86 I can't say about Smite cause I have not played it but when I played Heroes of the Storm, I played solo. As long as you know your role and know the basic objectives then you should be ok.
The fee seems reasonable for the unlocks considering its F2P sometimes charges crazy prices. Just signed up for the beta fingers crossed. This news is a good surprise they did well to keep it quiet for so long.

Woot! I just got a code for Alpha test!
Just got an alpha code myself. Feels like I've been alpha and beta testing everything this week: Smite, The Division, Trackmania Turbo, Drawn to Death, Street Fighter V
The alpha is running very smoothly. After going through the training it gives you a basic grasp of some of the gameplay. It seems quite a complex game and quite tactical. The controls seem to have translated well to the PS4. This is a game I could spend hours playing.

I think all free to play games can be played without PS Plus which is good
