Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below, a game with arguably the silliest name in the history of the medium, will apparently be sticking very close to its Dragon Hero roots. Indeed, recent interviews with some of the title's higher ups have revealed that it will be more reminiscent of an ARPG than a traditional action game.
"What we tried to do in Dragon Quest Heroes, we didn't make it as a Musou game as the Dynasty Warriors games, it's pretty much like a Dragon Quest game instead," series producer Ryota Aomi said. "It's kinda about avoiding making an action game, so it does not become a Musou game."
While this does sound like an interesting idea, the proof will be in the pudding, as the the footage we've already seen looks an awful like a Warriors game to us. Do you like the sound of this new title, or will you be giving it a wide berth? Pull off a clamorous combo in the comments section below.

It's Omega Force developing it, so it undeniably has a touch of Warriors no matter what way Square Enix tries to spin it. However, I'd argue that it's actually more like Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll, which was a PS3 action RPG also made by Omega Force. The gameplay's similar in a lot of ways.
They should really show off that part of the gameplay then, because what the greater audience has been able to see so far makes it look like any other Mosou game but in the DragonQuest universe.
It's a Dragon Quest version of Hyrule Warriors.
Now, a lot of people tried diminishing Hyrule Warriors as "just Dynasty Warriors with Zelda skin" and while that was true to an extent, a lot more carried over than just Zelda characters.
Now we'll see if people make that same accusation against Dragon Quest Heroes. Truth is I never liked Dynasty Warriors yet Hyrule Warriors was fantastic. And I have a feeling this will be the same way
I want another dw gundam game. I want it now!!!
If you thought Ubisoft and Lego love templated games tecmo Koei really take the biscuit.
Looks like Hyrule Warriors but with Dragon Quest characters, could be a really fun game.
Having played the Japanese Version, its very like Hyrule Warriors, with a mix of tower defense, as you collect monster coins to use against other enemies. Its still a warriors game at heart (1 v 100) with RPG elements such as the skill tree, weapons shops, armour shops and fusions to increase stats. I loved my time with it, looking forward to its English release since its going to be English dubbed .
