Expect to hear a lot more about Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's multiplayer mode at E3 2015 this month, as Naughty Dog has hinted that it's already got a playable build up-and-running internally. This is no big surprise, of course, as iteration and balance testing is an important part of every good competitive component – but this is the first time that the developer's talked about it in a public venue.
Perhaps in an attempt to build some hype, lead game designer Robert Cogburn tweeted: "Epic match between MP team and QA MP team today. Of course, the MP team won." He added in an Uncharted hashtag just to make absolutely certain what he was talking about. Meanwhile, earlier in the month he pointed out that the game's online mode is "getting so awesome". A predictable comment, perhaps – but a believable one.
Considering that The Last of Us' multiplayer component was one of the best that we've played for a long, long time, we're really looking forward to learning how it's evolving the competitive experience in its flagship franchise. Please add splitscreen. Uncharted 3 had it while TLOU didn't.
Looking forward to it. I only did U2's multiplayer for the mandatory trophies, but I actually enjoyed it, especially the co-op. Can't play 3's multiplayer though because I got it used and I need the online pass. Grr.
But yeah, this sounds like it'll be interesting.
I wasn't really a fan of the Uncharted Multi-player and never bothered with the Last of Us multi-player either. I dabbled with both the Uncharted 2 and more so of Uncharted 3's MP but it didn't grab me as much as other MP games at the time. I am not saying it was 'bad' as what it did, it did well but it just didn't draw me in. It had some interesting modes and the maps were on the whole good too.
At the time I was playing a lot more FPS games and occasionally playing a few of the third person MP games and Uncharted had a lot of competition - Xbox's Gears of War series, Max Payne 3, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - even Assassins Creed as well as all the First Person shooters like CoD, Battlefield, Killzone, Resistance etc. I guess it got lost amongst some of these and as the majority of my friends were also playing the FPS games, I was more inclined to jump into these too.
I didn't buy Uncharted because it had a MP though and would buy Uncharted 4 if it didn't bother with it. I love the single player, the story, the characters etc. Whether or not I end up playing the MP or not we will see. I guess it depends on what other games are around and whether or not I have many friends on line playing it. an MP is (in my opinion) only as good as the community that lay it. It could be the best,most fun, most diverse and/or innovative experience but if very few play it, or no friends to play it with, it really doesn't matter how good it is.
Of late I have been very anti-social with my gaming - sticking to games that are predominantly Single player. Currently nearly 110hrs into the Witcher 3 and my next game is Batman: Arkham Knight - another Single player game. What I am looking forward to most with Uncharted 4 is that single player story and its for this that I will buy this game for. I may give it a go if friends get it or once I have beaten the game and want to see what they have done - maybe that will entice me.
Maybe if PushSquare set up a game night to play the MP, that maybe a reason to jump in too...
Man I'm really excited for uncharted4 I'm loving the series so far, but if I'm honest I always see the multiplayer for uncharted as a nice add on, something to try after the amazing story has roles the credits. But as naughy dog are geniuses they might surprise me this year
Uncharted 3 had some pretty fun multiplayer, so let's hope splitscreen is an option this time around too
I'm sorry but this is a terrible idea..... so many games doing this and cutting back in the single player experience
@johnny30 Your kidding right? Naughty Dog have released three games that have had MP attached to a heavily focused SP campaign and they didn't effect those games at all, in fact people will tell you that they were excellent bonuses to the main game. Yes games like Dead Space, Batman Arkham Origins and Tomb Raider had poorly implemented MP tacked on but Naughty Dog usually get it right.

As long as they keep their SP focus ill be happy (but i did not like Uncharted 3 that much to be fair...)
@Faruko im with you all the way on that, as long as the sp isn't effected then by all means bring on multiplayer, but like i said in a earlier comment this is naughty dog we are talking about, they dont cut corners

@adf86 agree to disagree. Most uncharted games were lucky to last 20 hours. Fun yea. Long no. Tackedon multI player definitely or in the case of more recent ps4 games pretty but dull game play. I love love uncharted otherwise I wouldn't have an uncharted tattoo on my chest lol but definitely tacked on
@sinalefa PS3 could barely do splitscreen without the frame drop. Considering the PS$ is a small bump up I think any split screen non indie games with be nothing short of a nightmare on split screen.
Since Last os Us in the only game I play online since last summer and the engine for Uncharted 4 has hints of Last of Engine, I cannot wait!
Uncharted 3 coop arena is still the best multiplayer coop out there and still has a loyal cult following. Same with Uncharted 2 coop survival. Naughty Dog must maintain the same standard with a coop survival mode in Uncharted 4 because there is a huge fan base waiting for it. Female gamers love Uncharted coop.
The Last Of Us multiplayer was extremely disappointing because it never included a coop even though the game was crying out for it having proved how good the AI coop was with the character Bill. We were waiting to buy it DLC but it never arrived. Naughty Dog missed a trick there. Let's hope they don't make the same mistake twice.

Wrong, Uncharted 1 had no multiplayer at all, but it did have screen tear even though it was a great game that was fun to play.

I enjoy playing Uncharted 3 on splitscreen and the framerate is not bad at all. If someone can pull it off, I trust it will be ND, as they have made wonders. I could take getting a hit in the backgrounds to make it happen at least at 30fps.
