Scaling the, ahem, wall

We sincerely hope you didn’t purchase The Amazing Spider-Man on an alternative platform. Activision has announced that it will be bringing two brand new DLC packs to the recently released movie tie-in, and they’ll be exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

The expansions – dubbed the Lizard Rampage Pack and the Oscorp Search & Destroy Pack – will add a slew of new missions, costumes and mini-games to the open world adventure. In the former, you’ll take control of the Lizard in a quest to “stop Oscorp from releasing a cross-species virus blast into the city”. The reptilian antagonist will boast the ability to rip through guards using deadly tail swipes, and even topple toxic towers using powerful claw strikes. You wouldn’t want to meet him down a dark back alley, would you?

The Oscorp Search & Destroy Pack is the real gem, though. This augments Peter Parker’s smartphone with a couple of new mini-games, including a Manhattan-themed take on Snake and a robotic version of Space Invaders. It’s silly, but it’s the kind of nonsense we love in games.

Unfortunately, neither of the new packs will include Trophies, but they will cost a pittance to purchase. You’ll be able to pick them up a-la-carte for approximately $3-$4 each, or as part of a bundle alongside former pre-order bonuses the Stan Lee Adventure Pack and the Rhino Challenge Pack. That will set you back just $10.
