Joel's a survivor

The Last of Us’ gruff protagonist, Joel, is not a stereotypical hero by any means. Voice actor Troy Baker told Official PlayStation Magazine that the character is different from other video game leads, and that’s what makes him so intriguing.

The voice actor – known for his work in BioShock: Infinite and Final Fantasy XIII — said:

He’s not a hero, he’s not a badass; he’s a guy that learned how to use a gun because he had to, and he’s fighting every day because that’s what you do. Does that mean that [he] steals this, that [he] does this? Maybe. But it’s not that he has a plan, or that he’s a strong archetypal character.

I really think it’s gonna turn the model of the hero on its ass.

Sounds like a Naughty Dog game, doesn’t it? There’s still no date for The Last of Us, but we’re expecting to hear a lot more about the title at this year’s E3.
