The newly announced Square Enix Montreal will reportedly develop a new Hitman title for next generation platforms.

According to reports, the univentively titled Square Enix Montreal will develop a new Hitman title as its first project. The game will supposedly target next generation platforms.

The studio is set to open next year and will be headed up by Square Enix London's Lee Singleton, creating 150 new jobs.

A Hitman title is already in the works for current generation platforms, with series creator IO Interactive handling development. That game, Hitman: Absolution, is due to release on PS3 next year.

Square Enix also confirmed that it is expanding Deus Ex developer Eidos Montreal by 100 people. In addition to Thief 4 and the Deus Ex series, the developer apparently has a third "AAA project" in development.

Phil Rogers, CEO of Square Enix Europe said: "We believe in creating studios where passion for our games and gaming runs throughout and Eidos-Montréal is testament to this vision.

"The start up of a second studio brings a huge advantage to our business; we will nurture two separate studios with their own strengths, culture and appeal."
