Sony Plans To Go Toe-To-Toe With Apple According To An FT Report.

The new service will apparently demand some kind of subscription fee in exchange for both music and videos, and is set to debut at the IFA technology show in Berlin today.

The report notes that the service will launch on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable platforms, with plans to expand onto other Sony devices such as Bravia TVs, Ericsson phones, and Vaio computers. Sony's CEO, Howard Stringer, has been talking about uniting all of Sony's products under one umbrella for a long time. It sounds like this could finally be it.
