Summer's usually a quieter time of the year for new game releases, but August and September seem to be packed full of new titles heading to PlayStation 5 and PS4.

As always, we've been busy putting together some highlights headed to both systems over the next few weeks, as well as a larger selection of games that'll also be available throughout the same period. Have a browse below and let us know if you decide to treat yourself to anything in the comments.

Atlas Fallen - 10th August

A promising action RPG from Deck13 and Focus Entertainment, Atlas Fallen comes to PS5 on 10th August.

The game will have players hunting legendary monsters with powerful, sand-infused weapons and abilities in super-powered combat. "Rise from the dust and glide the sands of a timeless land, filled with ancient dangers, mysteries and fragments of the past," the game's official bio says. We've been treated to some glimpses at the game's combat recently should you want to take a look. If you're already sold, pre-orders are open:

Madden NFL 24 - 18th August

The latest instalment of the Madden series arrives on PS5 and PS4 on 18th August in the form of Madden NFL 24, with all sorts of updates and tweaks coming to the PS5 edition (sorry PS4 players!).

The new PS5 release will introduce 'SAPIEN Technology', which is said to deliver "a leap forward in NFL player realism", new AI enhancements, new mini-games and training camp drills, modes like Superstar: The League and Superstar Showdown, and plenty more. If you're a keen Madden player, you can get your pre-order in right now:

Immortals of Aveum - 22nd August

On 22nd August, EA brings us a new single-player FPS called Immortals of Aveum. It tells the story of Jak as he joins an elite order of battlemages to save a world on the edge of abyss, having players master three forces of magic and unleash spells to decimate legions of enemies. We were recently invited to check out the game's first-ever gameplay footage and came away rather impressed.

Pre-orders are available now:

Mortal Kombat 1 - 19th September

Mortal Kombat 1, which is actually the 12th main instalment in the series and serves as a franchise reboot, fights its way onto PS5 on 19th September.

Developer NetherRealm says that this new entry will "usher in a new era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and fatalities". Of course, the character reveals – and future character speculation – have already begun, with the hype building ahead of its upcoming release. You can grab a copy here:

EA Sports FC 24 - 22nd September

If you've missed the news, EA Sports' FIFA series isn't allowed to be called FIFA anymore. So here we are with the much more clunky-sounding EA Sports FC 24, launching on PS5 and PS4 on 22nd September.

It might not have FIFA's backing, but there's no need to worry – EA Sports FC 24 still features 19,000+ fully licensed players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30+ leagues across world football, with all your favourite clubs and stars being included just as they always have been. We've got you covered with everything you need to know about the game ahead of release if you'd like to learn more.
