Hello forum and Merry Christmas.
Got the new PS5 slim and already thinking of upgrading the storage in the coming months.
2T is enough for me but would like to know more details about the brands, models, and which are better without being more expensive. And also, is price a factor of being better especially within the same brand? Or the PS5 has its own limitations in peak performance?
Thanks

I would recommend Samsung as a brand I have PC built up myself and Samsung storage is what I always use. I piece of software to update firmware and keep tabs on performance and errors (PC use).

But I just got a PS5 and I'm looking at the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB Amazon have it for £177 but £191 with heatsink, not sure how big the heatsink is but I'm sure it wouldn't get too hot as the cooking surly would pass over the slot.

@Nakatomi_Uk Yep looked it up and I’m between the Samsung and the Kingstone SFYRDK/2000G with heatsink. The whole thing costs $150

Kingston are not bad just look for something similar with the 990 pros speeds if you can that's what's recommended anyway to match the internal speeds of the storage

I've been using two over the past year and a bit - WD Black SN850 and Samsung 980 PRO and they're decent, reliable, no issues whatsoever 1TB models. Happy with the results. Ended up using the 980 in my gf's MacBook Air as an upgrade for the measly 128GB SSD it came with, still runs well. The SN850 is in my current CUH-12xx series PS5 and it's full.

Stop moaning about resolution; the Game Boy, which many of us "old timers" enjoyed playing in the 90s, had a screen resolution of 160x144. In monochrome. 😂

I had previously been using a Western Digital 1TB SSD. Couple of weeks before Xmas i picked up the Seagate Firecuda 530 2TB model on sale for around £130.
