@AFCC I know I’m almost two years late, but I have this problem as well. I have the 1 Tb SeaGate Drive and i had all my games downloading to it. Unfortunately a storm came and the power went out and I believe it corrupted the data. Now when I plug my drive in, my ps4 doesn’t recognize it. Can you explain to me what you did if you remember. Thanks in advance!

Go to settings then devices and turn on your portable HDD!

@Tru6ix hey bro. I think I remember. You have to unplug your ps4 and your hard drive for like 2 minutes and let the current flow out! Then after that just plug everything back in and it should work.
Please tell me if it worked!

@Tru6ix - depends on exactly went wrong - assuming the drive isn't buggered because power was switched off while it was reading/writing, my old seagate drive used to do this all the time the PS4 went into standby mode, in the end, i had to set the 'supply power to usb ports' to Always to stop getting the 'Storage not connected' error every time it awoke from standby. the following used to work for me. remove the drive from the USB port, power off the PS4 and unplug it. leave it for a minute or two, before plugging it back in. boot it up, and wait for it to login and display the dashboard. then plug the drive back into the USB port, and it should give a message that the drive was not disconnected correctly and it needs to be checked/repaired. once it goes through process, it should then reconnect.

@leucocyte I used to get that all the time with my old seagate drive too. I just have everything download to my internal drive these days and move stuff over when required. As I have a hybrid drive in my ps4, games load a bit quicker anyway than on my external hdd.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

i'm having the same trouble. I've reformatted the external drive, restarted PS4, rebuilt database, everything I can think of and can't get the drive to work for me. been in touch with Seagate and they said it should work find, followed their instructions to format the drive but no joy. Really peeved with it now....

Hello, I know I'm pretty late too, but this just happened to me. I tried switching the power off and it didn't work, I rebuilt the database but the result was just that all the games saved on the hard disk and not in the inernal system disappeared from the menu. My PC recognizes the hard disk so it should not be corrupted, but I really have no idea what else to do!

@carovverde now I'm not sure. But I think there is no way to recover the data. Just download the games again and download the saves from cloud

I’ve tried all the solutions in this topic, still can’t fix my problem. my post on my profile explains it more but if anyone can take the time to read it and can find a fix I would love you for eternity. I’ve bought a new storage, replaced the cable, reinitialized my ps4 with my system software twice, and yet it says no usb storage connected, im going to go insane.
