Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 508 1

It's the last weekend before Christmas, so we hope your work is done until the big day. Whatever your personal situation, there's never been a better time to unwind with some games, and we've got a bumper holiday WAYP to prepare you for the holidays.

Aaron Bayne

Since I'm hosting Christmas for the first time this year, things are a bit hectic in the Bayne household as we prepare! However, if I manage to slip away for some alone time with my PS5, it'll undoubtedly be on Embark's The Finals. I've become a slave to its Battle Pass, eager to hit every daily and weekly challenge that I can.

Graham Banas

Christmas means a little extra time off, which also means I'll be playing some extra games! That means I'll have the room to keep playing Alan Wake 2, as well as find the room to keep playing some Lethal Company. And who knows what else?!

Jade Sayers

We have a ban on TV in our house for Christmas and Boxing Day, so I won’t be able to get any game time. That means it’s all go this weekend to make sure I get my fix before the TV is off for a couple of days. I’m going to be sinking some serious time into AI: The Somnium Files. I started it earlier in the year, got distracted and then never finished it - which I am determined to do before the year is out.

Jaimie Ditchfield

This weekend will be jam-packed with all sorts of things as I prepare to spend Christmas with my family. I've just finished Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3 so I'm excited to continue my adventure there, and I'm eager to dive into the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC on my Switch. In the mix, I'll also be venturing to the cinema on Christmas Eve to watch Wonka with my family.

Jamie O'Neill

I'll continue an old festive tradition of racing around the Blizzard Bluff and Polar Pass snow and ice courses in Crash Team Racing, with a newer Christmas custom of revisiting Cooling Springs' Frigid Floes in Astro's Playroom on Christmas Eve this Sunday.

Khayl Adam

With another busy year of games behind us, what better way to spend the holiday break than by playing all the games we missed? My backlog is in serious need of pruning with embarrassing omissions like Final Fantasy XVI, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, and Sea of Stars, a paralysing group of games that each demand a significant time investment. Decisions, decisions.

Robert Ramsey

I'm nearing the end of my current run on Baldur's Gate 3, which has really cemented it as one of the best games I've played in ages. Can't wait to see the horrific consequences of my reckless actions!

Sammy Barker

There's a new Genshin Impact update out, so you better believe I'm trying to keep up with that. Elsewhere, I'm eager to play something new, and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name has been calling to me for weeks.

Stephen Tailby

Happy holidays! In the spirit of the season, and considering how much I love the game, I think it's only right I spend some time this weekend with PowerWash Simulator's free festive DLC. Santa's workshop isn't going to clean itself, and I'll gladly take up the task while I eat my weight in Quality Street.

Those are the games that have captured our festive hearts, but what about the rest of you? Let us know what you're playing this Christmas in the comments section below.
