SOCOM's not usually a franchise we get excited for, but after seeing some videos of the game being played with the PlayStation Move controller, we were instantly sold.
It's therefore bitterly disapppointing to see the game delayed into 2011. Zipper confirmed the news on their blog, stating: "While we're certainly aware that you've been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don't want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we're going to use our extra time to do just that."
It makes sense. Delaying the game will push it out of the release window of Call Of Duty: Black Ops and Halo: Reach. It also gives Zipper more time to polish things, and gives Sony a greater window of opportunity to ramp up the hype machine. If we're honest, SOCOM 4 never felt like a 2010 release anyway. Delays never get any less disappointing though, do they?
