Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime Reckons The PS3 Has Little Going For It.

Reggie Fils-Aime suggested “it’s hard to say something nice about the PS3″ when prompted by Geoff Keighley on GameTrailers TV. The president of Nintendo was asked what Nintendo are worried about in the competition. Reggie quickly cited XBOX Live as a platform that worried him, but failed to come up with a reason as to why Nintendo are worried about Sony’s current machine.

Backtracking somewhat he concluded, “they’ve [Sony] got some great games that they’ve been able to bring out, some great content, but you look at the results and clearly they’ve got some challenges”.

Without wanting to get too bullish, perhaps we could mention the current state of Sony and Nintendo’s platforms in Japan as a reason to worry. Still, in the same interview Reggie confirmed upcoming Wii game Punch-Out!! has two-player local multiplayer. Exciting times, eh?

    Sorry Reggie,

As a hardcore gamer, it's hard to say anything nice about the Wii and at this stage, Nintendo in general. You used your notoriety, gained by hardcore fans, to push your piece of shit to the common masses, at the same time giving those same hardcore fans the finger. I prefer storage capacity, I prefer optical drives, and I most certainly prefer the broader range of games that Sony/MS are able to put out, as opposed to the Rated T games that are part and parcel of Nintendo's lineup. Sling your mud elsewhere.

And yet... that was your opinion? Do you understand everyone's likes and dislikes are completely different. It really depends the generation and target market of PS3 and Wii consoles. So the "piece of shit" would aim for your kids to play with... now do you really want your kids playing with shit? say that to them.

When your cheap console is marketed towards keep fit regimes, cookery aids and brain training, you know it's not in the same league as the other consoles.

I thought that this industry is about making technological strides, not developing on the same "'last gen" technology.

    Nintendo has killed itself. Goodbye.

    @ ANON

The wii is certainly not the platform for hardcore gamers but you can hardly say that Nintendo has "killed it self" when the wii almost prints its own money.

Its not aimed at us, its aimed at my mum. Trying to sell the PS3 to that market is like trying to sell crack dope to my car, its not going to work, the ps3 is not meant for that.

and i meant to delete the "crack"

Nintendo has created a console where each game feels like a mini-game in comparison to the 2 more powerful consoles. Can't wait to WiiSh those dishes.

    What's with the fanboism, Anon?

I own all three consoles and admit I play my PS3 and Wii the most (with the 360 not too far behind). There are great games for each of the three consoles. For the PS3 I enjoy Killzone 2 and MGS4, while on the 360 I'm still having fun with Fable, GTA4 and Halo 3. My Wii is providing me with tons of fun, from the recently released Madworld and House of the Dead: Overkill, not to mention I'm still treking through Super Smash Bros Brawl and Metroid Prime 3.

Seriously, all consoles have something great to offer.
  • Can anyone seriously be blazing on the Wii? Look the Wii sacrificed unaffordable hardware for unique and innovative game play. Not to mention FUN. Here's the straight up and down. Sony and Microsoft
(Especially Microsoft) Have made particularly eh games and have ushered in an error of 100 hour movies with little actual gaming involved. The only game that even makes me remotely interested in PS3 is Street Fighter IV which, even being the amazing re-vamp that it is, doesn't justify someone to go and spend 500 dollars on a console. And no disrespect, or wait yeah disrespect to freaking XBOX 360, but its a system that only appeals to people who were playing shooters on the computers anyway. Sure Wii isn't the RPG or sports game machine, but they're the first company that has listened to 'Real', I'll lay some stank on it and say it again, 'REAL' (this time said condescendingly) gamers and turned out some games that are fun and addicting. So really Nintendo is doing what they always have since NES and SNES, bring raw, untainted game play, whether or not it looks pretty. I can guarantee you Halo will never make it into a Top 100 list of anyone worth listening too. But I can for sure tell you Mario Bros. is in the Top 5. Look Nintendo is the Apple of the game world now, accept in Video Games apple is mopping the floor with the competition in sales this go around...BLAUGHE!!

"Sure Wii isn’t the RPG or sports game machine, but they’re the first company that has listened to ‘Real’, I’ll lay some stank on it and say it again, ‘REAL’ (this time said condescendingly) gamers"

    - As far as I can tell games like Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Wii Music and all the other third party "fitness" and "minigames" aren't exactly what "gamers" are asking for.

"So really Nintendo is doing what they always have since NES and SNES, bring raw, untainted game play"

    - Wrong. Nintendo are making games with LESS gameplay these days because the Wii's audience is made up of grandma's and very, very young children.

"I can guarantee you Halo will never make it into a Top 100 list of anyone worth listening too"

    - While we're a Playstation-centric site we certainly understand the appeal of the original Halo.It was the first real first-person console shooter that actually worked, well, paving the way for the likes of CoD, Killzone and many others.

"Look Nintendo is the Apple of the game world now"

    - Agreed. But not through good games.

I have nothing against the Wii, I like the system, I like the virtual console and I like some of the games. But there is definitely not enough content on Nintendo's system that appeals to me. Super Mario Galaxy is the best game this generation -- that aside I can't say I'm interested in stuff like Wii Fit and Wii Music.

Annnnd the Nintendo fanboys come out to defend the forsaken system. Granted one poster mentioned a few decent titles on the Wii, but sadly that is the problem. Few. Compared to it's entire library of shovelware, the few good titles comprise perhaps 1%.

The Wii isn't terrible, it just isn't for hardcore gamers.

PS3 is still the best, delivering the finest games, movies, graphics , capabilities. Don't feel like jumping on a £60 board.

i have all 3 consoles and i think each 1 has its apeal, but im seriously worried about the wii, i meen its great nintendo's trying to apeal to apeal to non gamers but recently thats all there trying to apeal to, ok i agree thi wii has metroid prime corruptin, marrio galaxy, super smash bros brawl, legend of zelda twilight princess, and yes even the greatly under apreaciated red steel, there all top games but what next? is that all the wii has to offer because i seriously know of no other hardcore games theyve made or are in the process of making, nintendo have even seen fit to hold back games like project zero mask of the lunar eclipse aka fatal frame 4, and who knows if they'll decide to release tenchu 5 or even murumasa demon blade in the west, if all they think is selling on the wii is 3rd rate casual/party games then thats all were going to see, its a sad day when the grandaddy of gamings top games for 2008 are wii fit, coocking moma and big brain academy, but before i finish i will say one good thing about nintendo and thats atleast they are trying somthing new and tacking gaming to a new audiance, unfortunatly we all will have to wait our turn untill they decide to start making games for all the hard core fans that have suported them for all these years, come on Nintendo dont forget the fans that made you wat you are the greatest game developing company ever!!
