This "article" is so petty and inconsequential that it's almost sad. Why do people think that the software industry is run on a basis of charity for consumers? Game development is now much bigger and more costly than ever with higher demands for quality, quantity and "next gen" visuals. If you are a sincere gamer who's genuinely concerned about the overall wellness and longevity of the console game industry then you wouldn't complain about spending two extra cups of Starbucks on purchasing a software. GROW. UP. Things cost money to make.
$700 US or $900 Canadian is max for me. It's just because I will never ever buy a thing from Xbox brand again after two of my 360s ended up in the dumpster for RROD. Also, Playstation has pretty much the monopoly over the strongest exclusive line-ups, which to me is the only thing that is important in the gaming console, not specs or any other factors.
Sorry to be "thst guy" but even though I wouldn't mind paying close to a thousand Canadian for the next console, I would be disappointed if majority of the releases cannot support 4K 60fps, especially with the supposed higher price point and they hype of more powerful machines. I'll definitely buy one regardless but I can see how that can be a make it or break it thing for others who are not loyal to the brand.
