@Stormageddon it be Activision leaving UK not xbox and they have right to appeal. CMA don't have a say, but they can still say nope. But than If EU agrees and CMA said no even after appeal. They finish after recent other decisions and they know it.
@Martsmall you be able to do that for "single player games" but not multi player games that COD and war of craft is famous for. Cause UK IP addresses be barred. Yes u can use VPN but would than put u at a disvantaged..
I am assuming u are a USA based media outlet? If EU approve the deal, and if FTC approve or microsoft win their case in court with FTC. Than if CMA do not approve this merger, than what will happen is Activision will be pulled from UK market including UK IP addresses for 10 years.
So as few said earlier, this being block in UK, esp CMA track record is not something to celebrate be if you are xbox or playstation. (Yes microsoft would pull it out of uk aka they said would pull from USA which is bigger market)
The key one to watch is EU, if they approve, deal is really on. If the reject it, than I say it will be on life support if not indeed dead
