Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake Dev Asks Fans to Give It 'a Chance'

@Almost_Ghostly I really don’t mean to hijack the topic but I’d like to share my opinion on your comment regarding all the “DEI” stuff. This is just a response to what you have said, and is not an attack on your viewpoint.

There is a very obvious trend occurring currently in the industry and there are many aspects ranging from character physical traits, fashion styles, dialogue and themes.

If we look at character design for example, I personally believe when it comes to good design everything matters. Whether that be race, sex, identity traits, physical traits, personality traits, fashion styles, behaviour and dialogue. It’s really important to drive a story. If you were to change any of those, the character suddenly can be perceived as entirely different.

That’s not to disrespect people’s creative view or to disallow others the right to create content, and there will be times when different traits are appropriate but when a franchise changes to cater to a particular style or demographic, it’s only natural that there will be people upset.

As for the Silent Hill 2 remake, we aren’t really seeing radical changes. You can’t generalise real fans into one category as I’m sure there are many different concerns held by fans of the original games. Design choices aside however, it does look good. I hope it stays true to the game roots and just focus on an accurate remake. The overall tone, theme and dialogue of the original game is apart of its charm.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. I’m sure there are others who agree and disagree.

@Mortal The best advice I can give to anybody is, don’t take game reviewers seriously. Their views don’t reflect the average player.

For as long as I can remember, game critics have been out of touch. What the reviewer say seems to be wildly different from the average person’s view.

This game’s reception appears to be pretty well received by its player base.

@Elitepatriot Story mode my friend, mind it’s still a bit difficult. The game gives you plenty of chances to explore and grind a bit while you practise, which is nice. Eventually you’ll pick it up.

The game is great, been playing and absolutely loving it so far.

For those on the fence about costume variations, they are still miles ahead of what you get in most mainstream titles, and by buying you are still telling Sony this is the content you want to see.

So next time you are in the store, put down that copy of nonsense they are trying to sell and get yourself Stellar Blade instead. You’ll love it.

@Flaming_Kaiser Change. It’s happening on each side of the fence, people adopting views that would have otherwise remained in fringe groups, is my opinion. That goes for conservative, progressive and other types.

To be fair, games such as Fear Effect were portrayed very differently to modern mainstream titles. Changes to established franchises and certain trends are what is causing division. I get it though, different times, different demographic.

The best advice I can give to anybody is simply if you don’t like something, don’t buy it. If a product doesn’t perform, it will eventually adapt to meet the market.

As I had posted previously on another article, the controversy around this game is pretty ridiculous, but not surprising for today’s industry. I’m glad Sony are supporting this, although it’s clear they are marketing to the demographic in HK and Taipei.

I think the game looks cool, and hope it sees more support outside Asia.
