@kyleforrester87 Games like Mario and Zelda get reviewed like that because of what they do for their genres. Many installments drive these genres forward instead of maintaining the status quo. They're always fun and, contrary to what people say, they often add new features and designs. While they do carry over mechanics and features from previous games in their respective series, you don't find either series copying features from other games. They get copied. Sony has a nice little catalog of fun games that has taken their cue from Nintendo franchises, namely Mario and Zelda.
If you either don't like or don't have high on your list platformers and/or adventure puzzle games with RPG elements, then Zelda and Mario aren't going to be a top notch gaming experiences for you.

@stevie85 Seems weird to have that opinion but have only played one game in the series. Sounds more like you're biased vs everyone else.
