The two complimented each other. Although Sony never monetized them the way Ninty do with Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Kirby or MS with Halo.

Yes there is a change to real time combat but so what?
Things change it is still a great series. No game is identical that is what is so great about Final Fantasy.
The game seems to have a great story, great music great graphics, open world, massively large envronments...
