So I see we're going to definitely be at an impasse here as I can't actually see what the point of your reply is? It seems like disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing. But I'll do my best to respond since you took the time.
To your first point yes. Truly pirating only takes off with inconvenience (hence why very few download music anymore as Spotify is so convenient or the opposite way streaming services move all your favorite shows around a bunch of times so you decide to subscribe to iptv). So to that effect why is Sony pissing off a bunch of gamers to minimize an already very low number of pirates? Seems odd. I had a much longer version of this point but someone who thinks pirating a game and cheating in a game is the same thing isnt going to see reason here but hopefully the music and video reference makes some sense to u.
I'm not sure what to say about the stigma thing. It's literally been made fun of in media, looked down on, thought to be a waste of time for decades. Many, I think most can envy where you grew up where gamers were cool and I'm happy that was your experience. Know that is definitely not the norm. The point here is it was a niche group (could call them og investors basically) that created these companies into what they are. If 20% still purchase their product a certain way alienating them is a pretty ***** thing to do when it's only being done for investors.
And you know what, this PS5 gen has seemed to fly by you're totally right it is not mid-gen, the timing is 100% speculative/your theory is much closer to the truth there. However I do think the keys being leaked plays a part in not making a seperate disc drive for people (keep in mind Sony literally owns the blu-ray it actually hurts them by not making physical disc's as well).
My thoughts might be all over a little bit here but hopefully that makes a lick of sense to you, I'm working the night shift and it's getting to be the tail end where I can feel the tired happening lol (yes I'm also a time thief at work 🤣)
@ButteredCrumpet so the problem is you're explaining things from a terms of service I would be surprised if 1% that agreed to them have actually read. You're not wrong about anything your saying but you're effectively defending a billion dollar company that is ONLY doing this for more money. A company that made its wealth literally on the backs of the niche people that supported games and suffered through the stigma of being a "gamer". Now that a niche amount of people want physical disc's they don't go, "okay, here's the thing. If we do it'll cost more to buy the seperate disc bay and physical disc's" they go "***** you we want more $$$". THAT'S the part that has everyone worked up. The other prong? We all understand in the end they control everything already, the idea we have more control within legal bounds by having physical media is a joke. They could literally turn off every Playstation connected to the internet right now and we could do nothing about it legally. However my 2nd PS5 that's in box waiting for the jailbreak to be completed says otherwise and I truly believe this physical-less future is also connected with them ***** up internally and allowing the PS5 bootROM keys to leak as they can no longer control if the PS5 gets jailbroken it's a matter of when. It gets more involved when you think of games being always online and whether we will get to a spot you could safely log in to psn on a jailbroken ps6 but you get the idea. This sudden push didn't come out of no where, I'm sure the PS6 may have always been the plan to stop physical media but them suddenly mid-gen enforcing it? Very intentional and you have to look passed the legal terms and service to see clearly what's going on, in the end it's greed and attempting to correct their own mistake.
But remember y'all!! This isn't a live service game, just a regular game that upon release will be updating regularly with events and new characters.... Did we mention paid cosmetics!? 🤣
I mean.. But it is working, I'm literally playing now and have been for hours. It didn't off the hop but it was fixed faster then basically any other server issue I've ever seen. Same evening fixes don't come often lol That being said it was acti-blizz that did all the server testing and on there end everything seems to be pretty stable. Or at least as stable as any sensible person could expect. So 🤷♂️
I mean, weekends are known to be the busiest time. Are you not just in a queue with x amount of time remaining? I'll give you I had a 15 min timer to login which I guess is inconvenient but if that's the most inconvenient thing to happen to someone today I think that's a win 😝
@Flaming_Kaiser nah it was honestly fixed SO fast and seems to actually be a Sony issue, a friend of mine couldn't play ANY game for almost an hour due to that error. So 🤷♂️ sh** happens.
Hah! Also did not see the update till I got to reading someone's comment about marching into oblivion 🤣. Thanks whoever that was now, physical FTW 😁😁😁😬
I love how this turned into a physical VS digital argument about Sony's authentication, if the game uses any form of online play it gets authenticated. If it was offline only which is incredibly rare it would still connect to servers for updates as no game is released actually finished anymore. That being said you could play said game completely disconnected from the internet and never have this issue at all, something you couldn't do with digital copies 😝. Actually though me and a friend were playing Godfall, I have physical copy, he has digital and his booted him from the game twice (we gave up after 2nd boot) and I never received a single error. So for my it's a physical copy win 🤷♂️ lol
Confirmed, very hard to do but I saw mine in the forest and another time at the beach, recorded the video as it disappears quickly and found my way to this site to see what I found. Definitely easier to get the trophy via the above method though if you haven't seen it.

@Splat oh man... If it's well written? Worth it 👌
Re: Diablo 4 PS5, PS4 Early Launch Faces Invalid License Issues
Sooo... If this takes much longer to fix we gonna get compensation since a key reason to buy a more expensive version isn't working? 🤷♂️
