Re: Soapbox: PS5 Is Pushing Me Ever Closer to All-Digital

I was digital with my PS3 but I've rebought them all really cheap on disc. My god have you used that store really? It's taken me all weekend to download and install 6 games! My internet is quick, but the system is slow. If my hard drive dies, I'd just stick to discs for that console.

My PS4 is 90% digital. I have a few disc games. It depends on what's cheapest at the time.

At the moment PS5 will be physical though.

@carlos82 I didn't know you didn't have to install PS3 games? Are you sure? Storage isn't a problem for me to be honest. It was more the fact that I've paid for the digital version and then paid again for physical!

How do you justify doing that yourself out of interest?

@carlos82

My point really was that I own a fair few PS3/PS4 games digitally, which looking back I kind of regret as I’d prefer them physically.

I rebought my PS3 collection physically as they were all pretty cheap. I’ll likely do the same with PS4, and have started to already, but do you lot think that’s wasteful?

I’m doing it mainly as I can see one day Sony turning off the PS3 for PSN and I lose my purchases, or if my access is revoked or a game is delisted and I can’t get it back again.

All this is if’s and but’s, but I wondered what you guys thought and if you’re doing the same as me?

@carlos82 What will you do given you'll own the same game digitally and physically? Delete your digital copy from the console and use the disc when you want to play it?

I can't seem to justify owning digital and then physical so need to know other people's reasoning for it!

@carlos82 I see what you mean. I went digital with the PS3 and PS4 and I regretted it. I slowly rebought my favourite PS3 games on disc again and I'm now doing it with the PS4. It does feel a bit wasteful though given I already own the game digitally, but I like knowing that whatever happens, I have access to my game.

I'll avoid digital for now as I do like having the physical copy.
