Re: Bungie Accused of Overselling Itself to Sony, Promising Success It Couldn't Deliver

@naruball Sorry it took me this long to reply, I was busy. It's true, Sony in my opinion should have developed some Evergreen franchises that don't cost as much to develop, similar to Nintendo's strategy. However, they chose to enclose themselves into developing mostly AAA games and neglecting some of their PS1-3 IPs, which now has them backed into a corner regarding game development and sales.

@naruball Sony also has plenty of their own IPs... which they've neglected or outright abandoned, such as Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Twisted Metal, Ape Escape, The Legend Of Dragoon, Resistance, Siren, Wild ARMS and others.

Nintendo has developed, besides Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and their spinoffs, several other IPs throughout the years, such as Metroid, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Xenoblade, Advance Wars, ARMS, Splatoon, Smash and others. They know that relying too much on third parties and neglecting the development of their own franchises was too risky.

Sony and Microsoft are learning the hard way that buying studios isn't a fix-it-all solution. Developing their own IPs, both by creating new ones and keeping classic ones relevant, is important too.

@nomither6 Haha. Seriously. Concord makes current Overwatch look good.

OW is not that dead, though. Around the time of the Concord Open Beta, Overwatch 2 had around 28,000 players just on Steam. Add players from other platforms (PC Launchers, Consoles) and OW2, despite all the controversies, remains pretty active.
