Firstly, apologies if I allude to anything that you don't already know. Don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I have to say, I didn't go straight to purchase the game and waited to see a little gameplay first before I made any commitments. I personally only got round to playing TLOU remastered this year and found it fantastic for the generation of games it was created for. That being said, I played (similar game) Days Gone and thought that, that blew TLOU out of the water. Having played the first last of us and now experiencing the 2nd, I can see why people are upset, but I personally have just put this down and don't want to play it. Not just because of the moments in it, but because it is too linear and rinse and repeat for me. I think I would have been able to accept this, if I was given the characters that I really enjoyed from the first one, but being forced down another storyline half way through for characters that I just can't adjust to, makes me understand why so many people are venting. I get that people may enjoy this game, however it feels like it is missing something special and albeit a lot won't agree with me, Days Gone felt so much better to play through and gave me a much more satisfying feeling, so I would recommend those frustrated if they haven't already, go and play this and just block TLOU2 from memory.
