Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Failed Because It Wasn't Live Service, EA CEO Seems to Suggest

Petrecis24

So Baldur's Gate 3 succeded because it was a live service? Why is it that in our day and age (pardon the pun) quality is ignored? Astrobot was live service? is any From Software game live service?

It is so much simpler than that, it truly is. If your triple A game is GREAT, it will succeed. Shocker, right?

Dragon Age The Veilguard was a mediocre game with some good combat mechanics. And the writing was so bad it couldn't even be ignored. At some point people have to admit that bad games, even decent ones, have no prayer of becoming massive successes.

Re: Hermen Hulst No Longer PlayStation Co-CEO, Still in Charge of First-Party

Petrecis24

Maybe I'm overestimating, but I believe Hulst went ALL IN with Concord. We know it was his baby internally, but I think he presented it like the second coming of Jesus, and for anyone who doubted him, well, all he ever said was "Trust me..". The man delivered in the past so, they did. And it cost them massively. And yes, he still is head of first party, but the buck will not stop with him anymore. At least that's what I think

Re: Suicide Squad Season 4, Deathstroke Fail to Move the Needle Much

Petrecis24

@nomither6 no, not at all. The people "in the trenches" are the actual game devs and people that work on those products before being released. Most people on the Concord dev team knew the game sucks and will not resonate, but higher ups wouldn't even allow them to express any kind of constructive criticism towards the game. Do you think the guys and girls working on those games don't know? They know better than anyone but, I wouldn't say anything either. I would rather keep my job than risking my career to "save Sony some money"

Re: Suicide Squad Season 4, Deathstroke Fail to Move the Needle Much

Petrecis24

I honestly think, in the near(ish) future, we will thank games like Suicide Squad, Concord, and the likes. Because these massive failures will make executives way more cautious in the future with their decisions (as it hits their bottom line) and listen a bit more to people 'in the trenches' as it were. 'Fortnite killers' will stop being a trend with games coming out in the 2030s. At least that's my hope

Re: Terminally Ill Fan Flown to Gearbox to Play Borderlands 4 Early

Petrecis24

things like these puts everything into perspective. All the negativity often surrounding the gaming industry is sometimes brightened by news such as this. If we all realised our time on this planet is limited (not to get too philosophical), we would all be kinder to one another.

(plus it would be cool if they could make an easter egg dedicated to him)

Re: Square Enix Offers $30 Upgrade to Play Life is Strange: Double Exposure Two Weeks Early

Petrecis24

ok, this sounds bad at first, but hear me out. In today's gaming world from a financial standpoint, things are not looking good for many developers/publishers. They need more money, as much as you hate it, 70$ for a game is not that much.

SO, instead of the developers making the game microtransaction focused, actually designing the game from the get-go to squeeze more out of you, I will always take this kind of approach. make it 500$ for all I care for the first week or two, it doesn't cost me anything to wait. If this tactic keeps the studio alive and they make me a new game, I'm all for it.

And I have platinumed all the Life is Strange games, so I'm speaking as a fan.

Re: Surreal Stealth Adventure Paris Belle Epoque Announced for PS5, PS4

Petrecis24

@Hyena_socks Exactly my thoughts. The art style looks super dope, the music's great, but the game looks like walking/running and sometimes sliding. Hopefully it turns out to be a little more than that.

If I want to just walk forward and look at pretty environments while having no input, i'd play Hellblade 2
(juuust kidding)

Re: Akimbot Looks Like a Ratchet & Clank Knock-Off for PS5

Petrecis24

this looks exciting, but the voice acting is way off for this kind of game, in my opinion. Reminds me of the narrator in Biomutant (and unfortunately the main character's performance in this game seems worse. And I don't mean the voice actor, but the direction of the character)

Re: Rise of the Ronin PS5 Trophy List Points Towards a Lot of Open World Work

Petrecis24

@Jimmer-jammer damn, congrats. I gave up on the platinum about half way through. I beat the game and enjoyed it a lot for about 20 hours, but when i realized i have to spend another 20 or so just to find those damned spirits.. I ditched it. At least if they appeared on the map I may have grinded them out, but only with that mechanic of showing you the nearest one, it was too much for me )

Re: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Whips Upheaval in Jingxiang DLC on PS5, PS4

Petrecis24

I really enjoyed this game, played it all the way through. But c'mon man, who is returning randomly to a combat heavy game for a DLC after so many months? I forgot even how to navigate the menu, let alone play the game.

I know some people can return to the game, but for me these late DLCs (GOW Ragnarok Valhalla, Horizon Burning Shores) have no place. It's like I ate a stake at a restaurant, had dessert as well, and after I get home and get ready to sleep, the chef is at the door in the middle of the night saying "hey, I brought you this sauce that will go excellent with your stake sir"
