Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for June 2026?

MrStark

I thought it was an underwhelming State of Play. Considering the hype behind it, it was a letdown for sure.

Sure, there were more single player games shown but too many were forgettable imho.

War franchise has never interested me. Wolverine is… Wolverine. Nothing else to be said. Still no real pursuit of new ips like we saw during the PS3 era from first party studios. Ridiculous.

Re: PS5 Fans Hopeful a Countdown Clock Is Teasing a Big State of Play

MrStark

@PuppetMaster I don’t have to answer your question since my usage of the term “hardcore gamer” is what I was referring to.

As for “it's not wrong for Sony to cater to those hardcore gamers by making multiplayer / live service games such as Marvel Tokon, Marathon, 4Loop, etc”… you missed the whole point of what I was making: it’s not about right or wrong. The answer lies in how it’s working out for them?

And with that, I shall move on. Flawless victory lol

@Sammy_G

You Are wrong. Xbox has had some of the most highly rated games of recent times (Indiana Jones, Forza Horizon 5 and 6 etc). Desist from the antagonistic behaviour or you will be reported. It’s pretty obvious you’re trolling and trying to bait too. Stop it.

Re: PS5 Fans Hopeful a Countdown Clock Is Teasing a Big State of Play

MrStark

@DennisReynolds I never said I spoke for 100M. You and others have wrongly insinuated and accused me of that. Feel free to apologise to me about that although I won’t be holding my breath.

As for f2p, I actually forgot about Destruction All Stars so my original point about free to play actually has an element of point to it haha.

Regardless, I still remain undefeated in my original point: hardcore gamers (the ones who want more single player and less mp) are not satisfied with the direction Sony is heading in.

@Sammy_G

I strongly suggest winding down the trolling and antagonistic behaviour. Bans and moderations exist for a reason. I will give you this opportunity to delete your comment and change your behaviour otherwise I will report you.

@PuppetMaster

"The type of hardcore gamer I was referring to is the type that wants more single player games." : )

Interesting how I've been swarmed all over by one after the other over the same point.

Makes one think that people here just aren't very welcoming.

All good. My point still stands. All hail the... point of truth I made lol.

Re: PS5 Fans Hopeful a Countdown Clock Is Teasing a Big State of Play

MrStark

@LowDefAl

"We have direct evidence from Sony that the biggest games on the platform are live service games" - that is true but the reference is to third party games. Even if one was to refer to first party mp games like Helldivers 2, GT 7 and Destiny 2, the reference is in regards to playtime which is obviously going to be superior to that of single player games. In reality, the gamers that are not happy with Sony's direction are the PlayStation faithful who want more focus on single player games. Nobody is saying that mp gaming should not be given a consideration. As I eluded to above, they have more than enough mp games for PlayStation gamers. There's no need to do more. Go back to single player games.

Re: PS5 Fans Hopeful a Countdown Clock Is Teasing a Big State of Play

MrStark

@LowDefAl

The hardcore gamer wants a greater focus on single player games. That has always been the case and continues to be so.

Sony have invested ridiculous amounts of money on F2P/live service/mp games which could easily have gone into single player games. This is an undeniable fact. Then you have the studio closures and cancellation of mp game that the fanbase actually cried out for (Factions II) and you have a mess on your hands.

Re: PS5 Fans Hopeful a Countdown Clock Is Teasing a Big State of Play

MrStark

I do think this State of Play will be good but my biggest concern remains that Sony is unrelenting in its pursuit of Free-to-Play games. My sincere advice to anyone looking forward to this State of Play is to not count your chickens.

IF the Xbox of old (the original and 360 era) was around, they would have no doubt seized this moment to make gains in the console market.

If anything, I actually hope Xbox does make a comeback of sorts under Asha Sharma. Ever since they were given a leg up by the disastrous Xbox One reveal, PlayStation has slowly but surely become arrogant, complacent and inconsiderate of what its userbase wants.

Re: 007 First Light (PS5) - James Bond Returns in a Strong, Confident Origin Adventure

MrStark

Completely disagree with the review.

This game is all over the place. It has terrible exposition, tonally inconsistent, ridiculous pacing and poor AI and gunfights.

It gets 6/10 from me.

How this reviewer thought this was a great game (8/10 is considered great) is beyond me.

Yes, it's called having an opinion but judging a piece of art requires the ability to weigh up the pros and cons as well as comprehend art. This game has significant flaws that many reviewers have overlooked. It has even got 9 and 10/10 review scores which is beyond ridiculous.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 635

MrStark

Considering how overrated and boring new games are nowadays (I’m looking at you 007: First Light with your horrendous tonal shifts, extremely linear game design, ridiculous fast pace and laughably poor writing) I’m going to be tackling my backlog for quite some time.

Evil Within and Jetpack Joyride on PS3.

Jak and Daxter: PL and Jetpack Joyride Deluxe on Vita.

Happy weekend, folks.
