"By comparison, when comparable AAA titles launch simultaneously on PC and console, PC contributes closer to 44% of players in the same period.” Well said. Even Capcom acknowledges the fact PC gaming brings in the revenue. Square Enix has finally woken up and decided to not do timed exclusivity with PS. If Sony is smart, they would do day and date I mean they've already dipped their toes, saw billions come to them thanks to PC gaming. I'd say just do it. They don't listen to their fanboys anyways, good. The smartest thing to do is go day and date rather than wait a year when the hypes died out. Gamers would be more inclined to wait for a good sale by the time their game drops. I mean Square Enix saw their FF sales numbers and regretted doing timed exclusivity with PS. Ya gotta remember, they're all corporations running a business. Not what the consumer believes or puts values on, it's not the same for them. For them is what's going to earn them more revenue and if this news is true of pulling back from porting to PC, then that's losing out on money.
Now miss me with the piracy ignorance when the reality is that's false. There's things like Denovo in place that makes it hard to crack a game. But even if that's not in place, games like Slay the Spire 2 which recently came out has shown a high player count. There's been many games that came out day and date with consoles and sold far well on PC. If they were "pirated", they wouldn't achieve 1 million in sales. Consoles are not making those numbers not unless it's some blockbuster game but for a third party game? Hardly. And when I look at the monthly PSN charts, it's always the same live service slop at the top.
Yeah those 70% are delusional, gonna have to disregard that. The reality is exclusives don't always push console sales, the majority of sales is thanks to third party games. Always has been. Also not everyone who's a PS fan cares that deeply. Most of these fans don't even support these exclusives, heck I know many on my PSN friends list who call themselves PS fanatic yet they hardly ever buy exclusives but when they do it's usually the big blockbuster kinds ignoring the less notable ones. Yet I'm the only one who does support these games and try to recommend them but it's either sale or not interested or play a "real game". To say it brings value to a platform is ridiculous. Those same values you believe in, Sony doesn't care. If they did care they wouldn't have put their games on PC in the first place. They're YOUR values, not the big daddy corpo you like to ride on, they only care about the money. Exclusives to me are good but never pro-consumer. Right now this news of alledgely pulling back on PC ports isn't even confirmed. Hopefully Sony actually smarten up on their strategy, release day and date instead of waiting a year when the hypes died out, so PC and I guess Xbox and Nintendo, gamers can also enjoy the same games.
And before some goober tells me, Buhh Nintendo exclusives work", that's because theyre NINTENDO. Even a normie knows of them. They know or heard of Pikachu and Mario but never of Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter or Kratos even. Some might but not a majority. Nintendo has more motion than anything on PS or Xbox or by name alone. It makes more sense for them to keep their exclusives as is. That's why Nintendo isn't worried at all. The kids, adults who grew up with Nintendo or families will buy their games and consoles.
Back when PS was my primary platform to play on, physical was the way to go for me. I had no hate for digital, it's advantage is downloading and starting straight away not to mention with the streaming services like remote play, being able to pick whatever digital game right away.
But since moving to PC, yeah I preferred digital since but sometimes I'll even buy a physical copy. Heck I bought almost my entire physical PS4 collection, games I've yet to play or have played and beaten, on PC since it was cheaper plus I can play on the go on my PC handheld.
However I keep it physical with movies, never digital. Nice bonus they have is owning a digital copy, also steelbooks 😁 To me I want to watch a good movie at home but a good game, take on the go, and even if I gotta sacrifice a bit of its graphics but eh, gameplay and/story > graphic, worth buying digital. Personally for me ofc, my opinion.
There's pros and cons to physical and digital, that much we can all agree on. I don't want physical gaming to die out.
Good. Sony should be smarter, release their games at the same time for all platforms instead of a year long wait. More money for them instead of losing some with gamers preferring to wait for it on sale by the time it arrives on their preferred platform. It especially makes 0 sense when they release a sequel and still make others wait a year long when we all know it's coming to said platforms.
I saw a video on this by Retro Game Corps and yeah, disappointed. I expected it to be nice and slick. This is so chonky, not even pocketable. For around the size and girth, you can just get the Anbernic RG Cube. For around the same price as this RG Slide, Retroid Pocket Mini.
It is cool but yeah, I'll wait and see for another revision of this by Anbernic or anyone else. Right now, my RG556 does the job. Same with my ROG Ally.
I'll give it a good 4 years until I see a version with FeMC. Makes no sense to have Theodore (Not saying he's in this remake, talking in general) be canon but FeMC stays getting c**ked. I don't believe for a second Atlus BS of this being the definitive version or whatever, seeing their track record of rereleasing the same game but expanded and at full price. But Atlsu fanboys are the dumbest group to buy into their re-release yet enhance versions like even a PS5 version of P5R and justify cuz it does 4K, which is never native on consoles but can't just hit Sega and Atlus with backlash to allow a free or even pay $5 for an "upgrade".
Yeah I'm fed up with Atlus nonsense. I should've played this on Gamepass and grabbed the DLC through it but nope, woe is me. Still committed on waiting for a true Full Definitive edition, with playable FeMC. If nothing then fine I'll buy P3R+Expansion on Steam sale.
I mean hey, GS is pulling a Wendy's and I'm all for it xD But yes, haven't stopped buying physical. Only the delusional think it's dead. But I also buy digital when there's a good deal.
This outage wasn't an issue for me, good thing I don't have my PayPal on there. Plus I have PC or other hobbies to do in the meantime. But this is an eye opener, makes me miss PS3 online before that 2011 outage. It ran fine and all compared to paying for it which has not changed much. A few outages here and there. It's so crazy to me how Nintendo's online runs fine and for a good whopping $20 for 12 months! PC online runs fine and it's FREE. Maybe for compensation, how about reverting PS+ to being optional and PSN online free but for good?? No, no one wants that? Just continue being sheeps.... K
I have no knowledge of the series but after craving a good arcade racing game, saw the excitement for this and I am enjoying the hell out of it! Crazy that an Early Access game has enough content. I do wish it would have split screen, like any old classic racing game would but hopefully in the future.

@Frmknst Yes, I so want another gritty third person shooter game with a Blockbuster B tier storyline.
No I don't hate ND as I am interested in their latest game. However, ehhh quality, them? Nah.
