Re: Ragnarok Odyssey Strikes North American Vitas on 30th October

IrishYort

Big news downundet @Sammy feel free to break it.

I have just noticed in a Big W catalogue (one of Australia's biggest retailers) that the Vita and Vita games have now been advertised.... Believe it or not just in time for the Christmas break.

Weather it is after the complete demise of GAME AUS or just Sony actually making things happen here, standard retailers are actually selling the Vita now.

If this doesnt make sense, for the 1st say 8 months of the Vita life in Aus, it was only retailing (to most people's disbelief) at a limited amount of stores dedicated to electronics and gaming. Which makes no sense.....AT ALL!!!

But suddenly they have struck a deal with major general retailers, far increasing the chance of success down here - Finally!!

Re: Retro City Rampage Travels Back in Time on 9th October

IrishYort

1 game besides Sound Shapes that i was looking forward to on the Vita was this.

Unfortunately Sound Shapes was underwhelming as a game. A great "experience", but as a game - meh!

Hope this kills it!

Have you had a playthrough Sammy? Does it play as retro cool as it looks? (It does resemble a Warioware game which is slightly not what I was expecting!)

Re: FuturLab Laments Lack of Trophies in PlayStation Minis

IrishYort

Hey Sammy good article.

I however think the biggest deal right now for the PS Vita Minis is the lack of the "BUY" feature! This game has been out for about a month all over the world and it still is not available on the PSVita Store in NA. What's up
with that?!

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Hardware Slump Continues

IrishYort

Is it just me or with the massive sales of these PSP games, shouldnt Sony be pushing these on the Vita?

Are they even compatible with the Vita or do they need to go through this cumbersome conversion process as well, which seems to take an unusually long time for Sony to convert?!

Re: Superbrothers and Jim Guthrie Rock into Sound Shapes

IrishYort

Ive mentioned this somewhere else but, great, now when the hell is the game coming out.

Is this Vita's Duke Nukem? Will it take forever to release as well? I mean it was announced at E3.... Last year and if memory serves me correctly, it was playable back then.

Oh well, lets hope it has a great showing at E3 2012 and then at E3 2013, E3 2014 and E3 2015 and then when finally released in the Spring of 2016, I hope it has not lost the hype it created way back in 2011...............

The only 2 things that could possibly be holding it back after god only knows how long in development would the the fact that Deadmau5 is releasing another new album or they are holding out until Sony moves more
units. Either way I keep losing interest!

Re: PlayStation All-Stars Could Be Brawling onto Vita

IrishYort

LBP Karting Vita has been advertised on an instore poster with what looks to be proper box art, different to the box art for the PS3 version.

All but confirmed that this will be released. E3 is going to be a big make or break for the Vita with these possibilities.

Re: PlayStation All-Stars Could Be Brawling onto Vita

IrishYort

They need to support their new device, it would be a large missed opportunity if this game does as well as something like Smash Bros. It may even move some units especially if it reviews well!

Question: Would it still be called a "port" if it was commercially released on the same day as the PS3 version?

Re: Talking Point: Why Vita Criticisms Are Premature

IrishYort

What Vita needs IMO is cross support. Why do Sony release Wipeout for Vita, but for some reason months later not release Twisted Metal. Surely the programming protocols for the Vita and PS3 are relatively similar, or else why bothet making the Vita at all?

This also goes with the PSN games. Why cant all games released on PSN be playable in the Vita? Bite sized, non boxed releases, like Trine 2, Skull Girls, The Walking Dead and Journey, all are easily capable of running on the Vita, and it should be Sony's responsibility to get these things happening even if they have to create a VM to do so!

Re: Miyamoto: Vita Needs More Games

IrishYort

Metacritic would reveal that the 3DS still lacks quality software, yet the Vita has released with a bunch of titles over 75%.
Sure he is correct in saying the "big" system sellers just arent there, but Sony relies heavily on 3rd party developers to do that, so it is generally beyond their control to a point.

So they have a super powered handheld, when do they release it, after COD? What if COD is a major flop? So you release it when you have a large selection of games to cater for all gamers with most being just under current console quality. Im pretty sure that te Vita had the 3rd best game release numbers at launch for any system console or handheld, and pretty sure the quality of games since the release period has been on one of the top shelves.

From a marketing standpoint, you release the machine when it's ready and there is enough games to keep people interested in buying it, and the games will come. Im sure they were banking on the popularity of Uncharted. In real terms therefore, for Sony, that is their Mario selling equivalent title. Sonys fault here was it didn't cater to the non-Sony gamer. Ive had a XBox and all nintendo platforms since my PS2 failed, so I really had no idea what to buy when i got my Vita. If it wasnt for Morty, id be only playing PSN titles waiting for Sound Shapes to arrive.

Re: Call of Duty Still Gunning for Vita

IrishYort

Its a pity this and Bioshock are taking so long to arrive on the Vita, if they manage to pick the sales up then more developers will jump on board.

As it stands, Bioshock and COD will probably make it out for just before the holiday period, so with the massive increase in sales then, I guess 2013 will be a giant year for Vita.

Now if only we could get Sony to develop for it as many in-house games are mysteriously missing (Twisted Metal, Infamous, Jak and Daxter Collection and even the upcoming Battle Royale or whatever they are going to call it all) and they could find a way to get all PSN games to work for it too as surely the smaller games would be easier to convert (Journey, Trine 2, The Walking Dead)

Re: Lumines Producer: Major Vita Games on the Way

IrishYort

Dual release games would be nice for a start. It seems like they are afraid to support their own product via 1st party releases.

Where the hell is Twisted Metal 3 and other recent releases for at least cross platform You cannot tell me hey made a high powered handheld without it being a similar setup to program for like the PS3, so surely games wouldnt be hard to strip back a little and convert

Re: 18 New Vita Games to Be Revealed at Tokyo Games Show

IrishYort

Not sure why Ridge, Hot Shots, Asphalt and Dynasty needed a mention. I mean really, they have been on the release list of every console since their conceptions. I think if we all say "those 4 as per usual", everyone will be able to guess wont they lol.

In saying that, this is a pretty weak list so far. I assume @gamrgod5 was being sarcastic, as this list will hardly put a scratch in any Mario game, and he's right! Release those 2 upcomong Mario games vs this list, 3DS will kill it! Lets hope for a grand remaining 18 games, and lets hope they're all released in the 1st week of the VITA release!!! =)
