Re: Even with PS5 Ports, Many of Xbox's Games Have Been Underperfoming

FlyingPig

Being a heavy gamer and having gamed since 1984, the games industry has taught me to:

1. Avoid games at launch: they'll start dropping in price within a month generally.

2. I will only buy very specific games at launch i.e. games and Devs I wish to support/encourage e.g. Astro Bot.

3. I buy games at a price I'm willing to pay i.e. I wanted Alan Wake 2 but waited until it was released physically at a price point I was happy with.

4. I like physical copies for specific games e.g. GoW Ragnarok. When they talk about physical games are dead why would I buy a physical live service game? The context is usually missed.

5. Back to games at launch, i refuse to be a beta tester for games at £70. Release a stable, performant game at launch and then we'll talk!

6. I have always preferred Playstation games (I have a SX and Switch too) as they tended to be more interesting to me personally and not the narrow focus Xbox has tended to have first party wise. They recognise more I think that gaming is a massive group of different interests. Some people play nothing but FC or GTA or GT but it's important to have as wide an umbrella of games as possible. I am very bored of most generic, cookie cutter AAA games these days. It may be because, being older, I've played so many similar games 😂

7. Playstation need to focus on what they're good at, primarily single player games.

8. Xbox needs to focus on having some focus and staying power. Instead of constantly focusing mainly on the bottom line (I appreciate strong financials are essential) they need to be more imaginative and creative.

9. Both Playstation and Xbox need to stop obessessing about all the data they collect as they are taking the wrong lessons. Funnily enough a fun game will generally sell really well. Who knew?

As usual, this is just my personal opinion.

Re: Meet the Man Making PS5 Manuals for Your Physical Games

FlyingPig

@ahmadsumadi Nice ageist comment by the way.

Not every product is aimed at every individual of course.

Whilst I appreciate you are not remotely interested in physical manuals:

1) you could acknowledge the time and effort the subject has put into making the manuals, and

2) recognise that not everyone thinks like you do.

3) clearly a niche product, as you can see from the sales, but that doesn't make the product any less valid for those interested.

Re: Cult PS2 Horror The Thing Remastered Returns in 4K, 120fps on PS5

Great, I loved this game. The trust/fear mechanic was great. I can't believe no newer game has tried to build on it. I was playing this recently on ps3 and the PS2 controls are truly awful by modern standards. I got to a boss in a small room I couldn't get passed. With modern controls this will be a definite buy!

Re: Alan Wake 2 Yet to Recoup Dev, Marketing Expenses as Tencent Raises Stake

I have no problem buying digital games where I feel i feel it offers value for money. However, i've chosen not buy this game as it was digital only.

All the arguments for how expensive game are to develop and distribution cost etc are publisher issues. What about being pro-choice and pro consumer?

I no longer buy games on day 1 as I no longer wish to support publishers who release broken games. Besides, once the necessary patches have been released, the digital copy is very likely to be on sale.
