Re: Review: PS5 Pro - An Impressive Yet Inconsistent Upgrade

Eleventy8

@LiamSmith016 I’ve owned every model of the PS5. Every one of them has been setup in the same position. My Pro runs quieter and I’m happy about it.

I mentioned on another thread on this website that my PS5s were obnoxiously loud. I was told that I must have had a faulty model, twice bad luck? Also that I must be doing something wrong because other peoples weren’t loud, therefore it was my fault.

I’m just happier now with my PS5. It’s become my primary console and the Xbox has been sold. 🙂

Re: Poll: Did You Pre-Order a PS5 Pro?

Eleventy8

@Medic_alert I’ve owned two PS5s, one at launch and the most recent bought in February of this year. Both have been obnoxiously loud compared to my Xbox Series X.

I play a lot of games digitally as well, no disc.

I don’t believe I’ve been that unlucky, twice. It’s a design flaw as far as I’m concerned.

I’d consider buying one, if one of the benefits was that it ran quieter!

I’ve been using my PS5 more recently and the noise it makes drives me mental. Have to play with headphones on to cancel it out.

Anything in the marketing material about decibel levels?

Re: FIFA 23's Player Career Will Let You Be a Pampered Prima Donna

So, it seems as if EA have listened to career mode criticisms. I'm actually interested in these RPG elements... however, having played FIFA 22 via Game Pass recently, I'm not sure if these improvements will help in making me enjoy the actual gameplay.

FIFA's player movement, lack of goal feel etc., keeps me from buying it.

This year might be the year I relent, since eFootball is still a complete ***** show.

@Flaming_Kaiser That is a valid point, been proven time and time again that games are carved up and mechanics deliberately manipulated in order to coerce buying stuff to save time.

Again, I can hope that Konami hit the sweet spot with eFootball.

Anyone remember what that new alternative is that is in development? UCL football, or something like that?

Competition is always good for the consumer!

@theMEGAniggle I think it’s likely that they have one eye on what Konami are doing. I’d expect them to follow suit, think how much MORE money they’d get, and how many more players they’d get if FIFA did go free-to-play?

If little Timmy didn’t have to save pocket money, or beg his parents to buy FIFA and could download it day one!

Remove the £60 to £70 entry fee, and the die-hards will think they’re saving money, whilst pilling that ‘saved’ money, and more, into FUT packs.

Re: Hands On: eFootball PS5, PS4 Feels Better Than FIFA 22 After Major Update

@Flaming_Kaiser usually I’d agree with you, but free-to-play seems to suit yearly release type games. The incremental updates each year do not justify £60 to £70, and more for ***** legendary editions, or whatever. Launch the game free, make money with micro-transactions, for those that want to indulge in their gambling addiction, and then sell additional game modes, like master league, at a fair price.

Of course, I’m probably being way too optimistic, and Konami might completely ***** the bed. But I can hope.

@Northern_munkey Not much, mate. It’s still pretty much a demo. I don’t think they’ll have any meaningful content available till the start of the new season. If I was in charge, that’s the date I’d be pushing for to actually have something together to challenge EA Football Gambling Simulator, or whatever they decide to call it once the FIFA licence expires.

Take it for what it is, a sign of intent. I think once it gets into full flow, we’ll be back to the FIFA vs PES back and forth like the good old days!

Gave it a going over in my lunch hour yesterday, I really had a lot of fun playing it.

I believe in the mission, free-to-play is the way forward. I’m happy to pay £10 to £20 for edit mode and master league and never play the awful online *****.

I’m amazed that EA can release the same game every year, and the same people pre-order it, and then spend months moaning about it. Crazy.

Re: Best Single Player Games on PS5

Eleventy8

@Vettechy77 I gave it an hour this morning before work… feels like I’ve played it all before. The constant chatter between the characters was a bit irritating. Might give it another chance at the weekend, but at the moment, not in a rush to boot it up again.

Re: Reaction: Sony's New PS Store Is Actively Preventing Fans from Spending Money

@Aslanmagic I’m fairly confident that those rest mode issues were over stated by the gaming press based on a few high profile reported incidents.

As soon as you connect your PS5 to an internet connection it will download the latest OS version anyway and if that rest mode issue was as wide spread as the gaming press would have you believe, I’m confident it’s been patched. (No evidence to back that up though)

@Bingbongboyo I built a RetroPie and use an old wired Xbox 360 controller. Don’t do it though, your childhood memories will be crushed. Always move forwards, never backwards.

Re: Best PS4 Sports Games

@Bingbongboyo I tried to play SWOS recently via emulation. How the fu*k I used to play, and be good at that game is beyond me. It’s so hard now.
