Re: Reaction: What Sony's E3 2017 Press Conference Got Wrong

What we could draw from Sony’s press conference at E3 2017 that we need to remember and I am sorry I didn’t read all the comments above maybe some mentioned it already. First, Sony showcase their games in 3 different exhibitions, E3, TGS and PSX so mathematically we’ve seen third of what they have in store, Last of us part II was announced in PSX last year not E3. Second, we can’t be complaining about lack of games pointing at Sony in 2017, we can’t forget the incredible library in the first 5 months of 2017 and more yet to come that put all other competition agendas to shame, all real exclusives to PS a lot of them belong in the AAA category of games. There are 2 points one could gather about Sony’s presser, the first, they were straight to the point, great games (shown before or otherwise) including Block Buster, System selling beasts in God of War & Spiderman, couple of DLCs to couple of the world most loved game franchises this generation and last in Uncharted and Horizon Zero Dawn (Full Game Expansions) PSVR decent content including new IP and 3rd Party support and exclusive content to big, popular titles such as Destiny, SWBF2 and COD WW2. The other point is for me more important, they didn’t trash their show, we didn’t see games to walkout saying these are mobile games just for the sake of quantity they usually don’t do that some in the comment section were rightly saying because they set the bar very high and way above competition, this year it was more about the quality of what they present, there will be more, a lot more to come from them as usual.

Agree with you, they (Sony) had a goal and that was achieved because it was simple majority of their show was quality AAA titles in extended trailers exclusivley for PS GoW, Spiderman, Days Gone and DBH even if they were shown before. There was no need trash the show with timed exclusive mobile looking games just for the sake of qunatity arguement.

Sony achieved what they wanted to achieve. Gaming is an evolving trend that 10 years ago looked completely different and there are A LOT of new comers into the industry every year, Sony targeted those with a big statement, great looking exclusives (we gamers seen before but not necessarily all and certainly not these new comers deciding to pick up a console now) and already available PS4 PRO which is a powerful machine you get to save 100 USD compared to competition coming later this year and they get to play these great exclusives plus a better 3rd party support. The disappointment that you feeling now is because of their last few shows (E3 & PSX) where they showed a lot of exclusives and also the rumours broke out way before E3 about a possible From Software exclusive and a new Sucker Punch IP which they could be true but there was no absolute necessity for them this show because of above. Some were disappointed for not having another look at Last of us part II or Death Stranding that for my money, Sony will keep the first + a possible new IP from Sucker Punch to PSX and the latter for next E3 reason would be too early to talk about as it could take eternity due to Kojima’s attention to details trend. With extended trailer of AAA games such as GoW, Spiderman, Days Gone and Detroit: Become Human, decent VR content and 3rd party delivering better support to PS besides a solid exclusive 2017 So far I don’t see them slipping certainly not in sales. Show was very good, they focused on their interest and not react to competition, would say they had above in mind and achieved what they came for. Announcing X1X at 500 USD coming in 5 full months will increase PRO sales.
