Re: Ridiculous Rumour Suggests Microsoft Is Eyeing Up EA

@Gamer83 "(no way you spend over $30 billion for a company to not make games acquired in that deal exclusive, that is bad business)."

I have to disagree on that one; you're thinking like a gamer here, not a board of directors or shareholders. Cutting out 70 million potential customers (and that's just the PS4) only to be able to say "Look, those games are exclusive now!", that's bad business.

Exclusivity doesn't mean anything to shareholders, profit does. No matter how many people would jump ship to Xbox if EA games were to become exclusive, it would never make up for the loss of the income over at Sony/Nintendo. If Microsoft were to purchase EA, they'd most likely keep FIFA, Madden, Battlefield and Need for Speed multiplatform, market them as "Best on Xbox" and have EA put out a handful of exclusive (new) IP's each year.

But I have to agree with some of the other commenters in here: it's even more likely that Microsoft is positioning itself as a service company. Just look at Xbox Live, Xbox Game Pass, the Windows Store, et cetera. Merging Xbox Game Pass and EA Access, putting it on the Xbox One and PC, now that is an interesting proposal.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Is Still Two Steps Behind PlayStation

@Brasilkilla Now that's similar to complaining about older movies getting re-released on Blu-Ray.

Gaming is culture, gaming is history. We need to cherish that history and preserve it. Especially now that we've moved on to 1080p and 4K TV's, it's pretty much impossible to play older games decently without resorting to grabbing a CRT set.

I applaud Microsoft for opening up their entire catalogue to their current system. One console to play all Xbox games ever? Now that's a move you can't criticize.

The last time we had something similar, was the first generation of the PlayStation 3, which was able to play PS1, PS2 and PS3 titles. I commended Sony for it back then, just like I commend Microsoft for this now.

Games aren't just about "the latest technology" and "the newest gimmicks" and "the best graphics". Super Mario 64, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IX, Crimson Skies, Sonic The Hedgehog are all still worth playing today, and Microsoft making sure we can in an easy, accessible and respectable fashion on our current systems and TV's is nothing short of amazing.

Re: Soapbox: Why I Don't Think PS4K Is Okay

My guess? The 'PS4K' is going to be a regular PS4 that includes 4K streaming and Blu-Ray playback. It might(!) upscale games to 4K, but I'm not even sure about that one.

Another guess is that they might incorporate the extra PSVR box, so that you only have to hook up the headset itself.

Finally, they might throw in a nifty remote to emphasize the 4K media playback. That's it though: a slimmer, more complete PS4 that doesn't divide the fanbase in any way whatsoever.
