PS5 Fighter Avatar Legends Gets Ranked Play, Low Latency Mode, More in Major Update 1

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game recently received patch 2.5, a pretty significant update on PS5 that adds some nice new features to the fighter.

Most notably, ranked online matches are now available on PS5 as well as other platforms, with full cross platform play available.

A new Low Latency mode is also implemented on PS5, and controller latency in general has been improved, so it should be even snappier to play now.

On top of that, the update makes improvements to matchmaking and makes a variety of animation tweaks and balance adjustments, which you can view via the official patch notes page.

Here are the full notes:

New & Updated Features

  1. Ranked Mode 1.0 (now available for Steam, PS5, Xbox X|S)
  2. (PS5 Only) Low Latency Mode
  3. Main Menu allows you to open up the Newsletter again with a button callout!
  4. Training mode can now have block mode set to "Flow". (More coming!)

New & Updated Content

  • New Newsletter: Ranked Mode 1.0 edition
  • New PAX West Aang Color Drop
  • Updated Move: Zaheer’s Final Technique - Ghazan animates differently rather than going straight up.
  • Ozai gained more animation frames for a variety of moves:
    • Air Throw
    • Air Super Technique
    • Counter Pose
    • Lightning / Air Lightning
    • s.A and B, c.A B C, j.A B
    • Jump, stand and crouch turn
    • Throw tech
    • Some hitstuns
    • Crouch block
  • SYSTEM Updates:
    • Added input buffer for EX and Super techniques when doing them from chains
    • Fixed bug where hitting certain flow moves that had the dodge trigger property removed hitstop from the attacker.
    • Fixed scaling bug with certain moves hitting first causing excess damage scaling.

Fixes

  1. [PS5] [Online] Improved cross platform skill based matchmaking.
  2. [Art] [Stage] Ba Sing Se: Colors on window NPCs fixed.
  3. [Gallery] "Bumi (Son)" renamed to “Commander Bumi”.
  4. [Localization] ~204+ Localization fixes.

It's good to see the game receiving meaningful updates like this; ranked online play was noticeably absent at launch, so I'm glad it's now included.
