Kuro Games, the Chinese studio behind the wildly popular open world RPG Wuthering Waves, has established a new animation division named Kuro Onroad.
Its first project will be an expansion of its wildly popular PS5 game, an anime named Wuthering Waves: Elysium. You can watch a teaser trailer featuring some of the characters from the title below.
A press release says:
“The launch marks a new chapter for Kuro Games as it expands the Wuthering Waves universe beyond the game and offers fans another way to experience its characters, stories, and world through animation.”

HoYoverse has been trying to get a Genshin Impact anime off the ground for years now, and it finally re-emerged earlier this year, via powerhouse studio ufotable.
Honkai: Star Rail is also getting an adaptation.
But it looks like Kuro Games has decided to circumvent the issues associated with working alongside an outside party by establishing its own internal animation house.
There’s no timeline on when Wuthering Waves: Elysium will debut, but it’s promised more information in the future. I’d expect this to be a good few years away.
Wuthering Waves already has a couple of manga adaptations in Japan and China, so it makes sense to step into anime next.
