Sony and Arc System Works have revealed the first playable character that will join Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls in post-launch DLC.
It's Phoenix Cyclops, and you can catch a brief glimpse of him in this teaser trailer:
Phoenix Cyclops, voiced by Ray Chase, is the first fighter in the game's Year 1 DLC. He's scheduled to arrive in Fall 2026.
I'll be honest; while I know who Cyclops is (and Phoenix), I never knew about this variant of the mutant hero.
If you're also not aware, there's a version of Scott Summers — Cyclops — that bonds with the cosmic Phoenix Force, and that's the version of the character coming to Tokon later in the year. Pretty cool!
Here's the official description via the PS Blog:
Cyclops is one of Marvel’s most iconic X-Men leaders. In MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, however, this version of Cyclops draws inspiration from his Phoenix Five incarnation from Avengers vs. X-Men, sporting a bold new look infused with the fiery cosmic power of the Phoenix Force. In addition to powerful Optic Blasts and exceptional hand-to-hand combat abilities that define the character, this Cyclops also possesses the Phoenix Force, so expect Scott Summers to bring the heat! .We’ll have more to share about how these abilities are incorporated into his gameplay, so please stay tuned for future updates on his fighting style.
To gain access to him and subsequent DLC characters, you'll need the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass, which is included in the Digital Deluxe and Ultimate editions of the game. Presumably it'll also be available as a separate purchase once the game has launched next month.
There are three other characters planned in the first year of DLC, and it seems we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out who they are.
