Virtua Fighter Crossroads' Insane PS5 Production Values Bring All the Hype 1

It’s been a weekend of awesome fighting game reveals, but the Bakunawa Killer from Virtua Fighter Crossroads may have stolen the show.

With story being a central part of RGG Studio’s reboot, this trailer leans heavily into the narrative vibes, as protagonist Cielo Salinas and returning character Pai Chan hunt for the mysterious assassin.

But later in the clip we see his fighting style, which is nonchalant and powerful at the same time. He speaks in Cantonese at the end, saying something along the lines of, “Hey, help me do him in.”

There’s all sorts of speculation about the nature of this character. Is he a newcomer? Or a reimagined version of Lei-Fei? Some Shenmue fans even wonder if this could be villain Lan-Di, although that seems like wishful thinking!

If it is Lei-Fei, I’m not sure why he’d be speaking Cantonese as opposed to Mandarin, so I’m leaning towards this being a new character. All I know is that this game is looking seriously awesome.

Roll on release in 2027!
