Diablo and Overwatch developer Blizzard, famed for creating some of the greatest cinematics in the gaming industry, is lending its expertise to Playground Games as it works on Fable.
Xbox's chief content officer Matt Booty talked up the collaboration in a fresh Official Xbox Podcast episode, touching on how "the Blizzard Cinematics team [is] helping out on Fable". Its work so far has already been put on show to a degree during pre-release trailers, as Richard Ayoade stars as a character explaining the set-up of the world. These trailers have been finished and refined to a high quality, just like past Blizzard cinematics.

Whenever a new Blizzard project is introduced or a pivotal in-game event occurs, the developer always has a big-budget, high-end cinematic to go with it. These represent some of the best in the entire industry, and now those type of flashy cutscenes will make their way into Fable.
The game, which will arrive on PS5 day and date with the Xbox Series X|S and PC versions, is still slated for an Autumn 2026 launch, but recent speculation suggests it may have been delayed internally. It could still come out this year, but releasing close to GTA 6 represents a risk for Microsoft. Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb, who made the claim, suggests a 2027 release date is possible.
