Update []:
The next State of Play is coming soon, apparently. Well, how does next week suit you?
Notorious sneak NateTheHate has taken to X (or Twitter) to share a fresh rumour: Sony’s next livestream is allegedly locked for 16th April.
He stressed that the date is “unconfirmed” and it’s worth noting that insider information like this is always subject to change, but the source has proved himself to be very reliable over the years, so we certainly wouldn’t rule this out.
Writing in the replies, NateTheHate clarified that he’s unsure of the nature of the State of Play, but expects it to be “more third-party focused”. Interestingly, the reveal of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is also touted to take place on the same day. Coincidence?
If the date is accurate, then we wouldn’t expect Sony to officially announce anything until early next week; it usually gives a couple of days notice for these kinda things.
We’ll update as and when we learn more.
Original Story: Sony is planning to host its next State of Play livestream within the next seven or so weeks, according to reliable leaker Nate the Hate. In a social media post, he responded to a user questioning whether there'll be a YouTube video regarding PlayStation's future plans.
The leaker said a video will arrive following the next State of Play, which is currently planned to stream "well before" June. This is based on sources speaking to Nate the Hate, though he hasn't been able to confirm the exact date yet.
Ever since Sony began its State of Play livestreams in 2019, it has put on a showcase either in May or in extremely close proximity to it — the only times it fell into June was in 2020 and 2025, and even then it was only by a couple of days.
Therefore, a State of Play taking place next month is an incredibly safe bet.
We already know Microsoft has an Xbox Games Showcase planned for 7th June, and the Summer Game Fest show is on 5th June this year. Sony has traditionally shown its hand a few weeks before the two livestreams in question, and it appears it'll do the same in 2026.
