With the recent release of Pragmata, Capcom's schedule is once again wide open, and that can only mean one thing: we're about to see a lot more of Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
The samurai action game has been on hold for ages, but the publisher has always maintained that it'll launch this year. And as such, a release date announcement has to be coming soon.
Fortunately for excitable Onimusha fans — ourselves very much included — it looks like Capcom's cooking. On social media, the company is clearly gearing up for its next big title, simply stating: "We're not done with 2026 yet."

The post on X (formerly Twitter) features an image that includes Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, Pragmata, and, of course, Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
The latter is layered with text that reads: "Up next". Say no more.
Obviously it makes perfect sense for Capcom to clear its plate before moving on; it won't want anything of its own making to stand in Onimusha's way.
But still, this is a poignant reminder of just how impressive Capcom has been over the last few months. It's crazy to think that the publisher's released not one, not two, but three incredibly highly rated games in 2026 already.
Indeed, the company's currently the year's best-scoring publisher. And again, it's only April!
So when and where are we going to see Onimusha? Well, that rumoured State of Play never happened, but whispers remain. Does a summer blowout feel a bit too far off?
It's difficult to say. We suppose that there's even a chance of Capcom hosting its own showcase at some point in the near future — although it has previously stated that Monster Hunter Wilds' anticipated expansion will be revealed in the summer, specifically.
Throw in the increasingly heavy rumours regarding Dragon's Dogma 2 DLC and, well... The Japanese juggernaut could end up having quite a lot to talk about.
