Free Gran Turismo 7 Update Adds Everything from Supercars to a Twingo 1

Sony’s live service strategy has been mixed to say the least, but regardless of how the company actually defines Gran Turismo 7, there’s no denying its on-going support remains unparalleled.

This week will see an all-new update released for the racing sim, adding a trio of new cars, a Café collection menu, and even new content for the Power Pack expansion.

First and foremost, here are the new cars:

  • Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau (964) ’93
  • Renault Twingo ’93
  • Yangwang U9 ’24

You’ve got to love and appreciate Gran Turismo’s continued commitment to mundane everyday cars, as well as those dreamy automobiles most of us will never even get to sit inside.

As mentioned above, the update also includes a new Café menu and World Circuit events, but we’re most taken with an improvement to the Power Pack expansion pack.

Here’s how brand manager David Robinson explains the new feature:

“Power Pack Challenges will be added. In this mode players can receive a variety of rewards according to the number of races completed within the fixed period. Rewards will be updated weekly, and progress can be checked from the World Map screen or the dialogue in the top right of the Event Select screen.”

As a reminder you’ll need to own the Power Pack DLC to take part in these challenges. This sounds like a way for Polyphony Digital to incentivise repeated sessions over time – a live service staple, even if Sony doesn’t classify the game as such.

A lot of people are disappointed the company isn’t taking this opportunity to natively update Gran Turismo 7 for PSSR2, as apparently there are some glitches with the system-level toggle right now.

Hopefully that gets patched soon, because this is one of the best looking PS5 games, and it deserves to be presented as cleanly as possible on Sony’s supercharged hardware.
