Supermassive Games has finally announced a release date for its latest narrative horror game, Directive 8020.
Following a delay, this next entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology series arrives on 12th May, 2026. The news comes alongside a new pre-order trailer:
Directive 8020 will be available both digitally and physically on PS5, and pre-ordering the game nets you an upgrade to the Deluxe Edition. This includes bonuses such as:
- The Dark Pictures Outfit Pack
- The Dark Pictures Collectables
- Cinematic Filter Pack
- Digital Soundtrack
- Digital Artbook

The game's premise is heavily inspired by The Thing, with an unknown alien force able to produce perfect doppelgängers. It gets aboard a space ship, and drives everyone to paranoia as they have to make choices about who they can trust.
The above trailer also teases some on-planet exploration, so you won't be confined to just the ship the whole game.
A new feature for Directive 8020 is Turning Points; at these moments, you're allowed to rewind and reconsider key decisions. This means you might be able to save your favourite characters from death, or gives you the option to explore alternate paths.
It looks like you can play without Turning Points if you want a more pure playthrough.
