TT Games has a long history of making LEGO games, and each of them has included dozens if not hundreds of playable characters.
The studio's latest, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, will have a comparably small selection of just seven heroes. The big difference, however, is that they're all much more fleshed out this time around.
In addition to the caped crusader himself, you'll be able to take control of Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul, per the game's official site.

Unlike the characters in previous LEGO titles, which had very limited move sets to compensate for there being so many of them, each playable character in Legacy of the Dark Knight has unique weapons, progression trees, unlocks, gadgets, and so on.
For example, Catwoman will play quite differently to Batman with her own skills and combat techniques, as touched upon in this video from IGN:
Unlike Batman, Catwoman wields her trademark whip, and is able to summon cats using a laser pointer to fight enemies alongside you. You can even take control of one of these cats to get through tight spaces and distract enemies.
Catwoman is also seen using a glider to navigate Gotham City, which we imagine has been implemented because the open world has been designed to accommodate Batman first and foremost.
It sounds like all the playable characters will have unique elements like Catwoman's, making them much deeper and more interesting to play than the relatively shallow extended cast of previous LEGO titles.
It's a pretty big change for the series, but if it works, it should make for a more diverse and interesting range of abilities across more meaningfully different heroes.
