It's a pivotal weekend for Tekken 8, as the Tekken World Tour 2025 Global Finals get underway.
The tournament, which sees qualified players from all over the world compete for the tour's biggest prize, is just about to get started over in Malmö, Sweden (the initial group stage kicks off in about half an hour from the posting of this article), and carries on throughout the next few days.
The Top 20 'Final Tournament' takes place on Sunday the 1st February — and unsurprisingly, that's where "the future of Tekken 8" will be revealed.

This is according to Bandai Namco's official Tekken accounts on social media, so you can fully expect an information blowout before the top 8 begins.
While there's plenty of excitement surrounding the finals, Tekken 8 itself remains a divisive fighting game in terms of its gameplay and character balance.
Many would argue that its Season 2 update, which dropped all the way back in April of last year, set the title on the wrong path, empowering certain mechanics that were already proving to be controversial amongst players.
The dev team put a lot of work into reworking some of these adjustments, but steered clear of making significant changes as the World Tour continued, for the sake of competitive integrity.
The hope, then, is that this big reveal at the finals will outline what's in store for Season 3 — and we're all but guaranteed to get a new character trailer as well.
Here's a quick breakdown of what the weekend's schedule looks like:
- Thursday 29th January: Regional Leaderboard Group Stage
- Friday 30th January: Global Leaderboard Group Stage
- Saturday 31st January: Last Chance Qualifier
- Sunday 1st February: Final Tournament (Top 20) — 5pm CET / 4pm GMT / 8am PST / 11am EST
