One of the most useful bits of equipment in Death Stranding 1 and 2 is the exoskeleton, a set of fancy leg braces that allow Sam to hike faster and for longer, as well as carry much more cargo.
If you've ever wanted to experience what it feels like to wear this bit of gear, well, they're real — and one company has collaborated with Kojima Productions on a Death Stranding-branded pair.
It's the product of Dnsys, an engineering and robotics company focusing on delivering enhanced mobility with AI-powered technology.
The model used for the Death Stranding crossover is the Z1 knee exoskeleton, which aims to ease pressure on the knees and increase your ability to climb and walk.
The Death Stranding version echoes some of the design seen in the game itself and brands it with DS colours and logos.
According to the website, the Dnsys Z1 Exoskeleton Pro - DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH Limited Edition was co-designed by Dnsys and Kojima Productions' Yoji Shinkawa.
Apparently, the device allows you to feel up to 44lbs lighter, walk for much greater distances, step with up to 50% more power. It can also relieve your body weight from your knees.
Here's what Yoji Shinkawa has to say about it:
"We designed this exoskeleton with the same passion and precision as if it were built for the world of Death Stranding. Every detail was refined to bring the game's futuristic vision into reality, creating something Sam Porter Bridges himself might wear. Wearing it feels as if the world of Death Stranding has come to life, where imagination and reality finally connect."
If you want one of these things, there's currently a place to register your interest by inputting your email address. Alternatively, you can submit your ideas on how you'd use the exoskeleton and be in with a chance of winning one of three sets.
It's not clear how much this exoskeleton would set you back, but the Kickstarter for the Z1 appears to suggest a retail price of $1499, so this is a premium bit of kit.

I work in a relevant industry and would gladly sign up to have staff beta test
One advantage of having arthritic knees at the grand old age of 25 is that I can tell when it’s going to rain from the flare ups. I will not sacrifice my weather predicting ability for an AI powered exoskeleton.
Will be nice to have after the apocalypse of tar and pizza.
1.5k for something that looks cool is a lot of money.
1.5k to be able to do more work so you're not replaced by a robot might be worthwhile.
1.5k for a mobility aid that helps someone get around when they have issues might be a steal (though it's not clear these are really in that category).
Dang, exoskeleton is real huh?
It's crazy how tech like this and prostethic robot arms / legs used to only exist in sci-fi movies, games, or anime but now they're real.
I wonder what's next, could be prosthetic robot eyes or nanomachines like in GitS and MGS became a reality too? Fascinating 🤔
