Ghost of Yotei Can't Beat Battlefield 6 as EA's Shooter Dominates PS5 in October

Why would you expect ghost to outsell battlefield?

Battlefield is a multiplatform game, Yotei isn’t. That should be a surprise.

GTA at fourth in Europe (in 2025!) is wild.

Yotei is phenomenal. BF6 is great for what it is, but I need more than running around in circles shooting, dying and repeating. That loop gets incredibly stale incredibly fast. Yotei offers the depth and engagement I require at this point in my life; perhaps once I begin my post-lobotomy life BF6 multiplayer will be enough.

I love Ghost of Yotei but I am glad other games enjoyed strong debuts as well.

Excellent as it is, not everyone likes Ghost of Yōtei, and that's alright.

What's the engagement with other players like in Arc Raiders? I'm quite tempted to get it but would like to find a decent player base. I was really enjoying Battlefield 6 but great as the game itself is there's nothing it can do about the players and I'm getting increasingly fed up with the lack of team players and K/D ratio glory hunters. Even if you want to keep your mic off surely there should be some attempt to pay attention to your squadron and what they're doing? Medics ignoring revives. Vehicle drivers driving off or barging me out the way when I'm trying to fix their tanks etc. Teammates just sat there sniping as I bleed out right behind them. Then to top it off I got a snarky message from someone who was mocking my low kill count despite the fact I'd spent almost the entire match painting targets and was the only one who seemed to be doing it and had a points score to prove it!

I realise complaining about online shooters being full of arseholes is all a bit 'That waters too wet!' but you'd think Battlefield might attract more people interested in actually playing the game to it's strengths.

Sad to see NG 4 isn't doing well in US, EU, and Japan. Is this it for NG series? Another decade in the coffin until someone try to revive the series again? 😔

Nice to see Yotei doing well though and GT 7 still has long legs.

@CaptainWow I agree with most of your points. BF6 is brilliant when I'm with my regular squad mates because we all pick a class that's needed (1 of each) so we all support each other. Communication is key (we all chat privately.) When the guys are not on I'm mostly going TDM. To answer your question about arc raiders player engagement I myself am finding it very good. The majority of the players I've encountered have all been extremely helpful and will not attack you unless provoked into doing so. It's a class game and i am finding it very compelling and enjoyable. If you decide to dip your toes in hit me up on psn for some raiding 👍

Enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima, but Yotei is not for me. Enjoying Battlefield 6 though, great game.. Have my eye on Arc, only because it reminds me of Factions, but I have no one to play with

What's amazing is the current choice of great games, there really is 'something for everyone'

@PuppetMaster I suppose the one saving grace for NG is this one was made by platinum games not Team Ninja so maybe the hype just wasn't there.

@Balaam_ I’m just too old for twitch shooters now. And it just gets old fast. I’d rather have a beautiful world to go exploring in and computer controlled chumps to slay.

I watched a 30 minute gameplay video of it earlier today and it looked great and also decent to play solo as well as in a squad. I expect my B6 fatigue will pass or else I will need to find some people to play regularly with.

Is it just me or has the culture of online gaming really changed alot? I remember back in the old days of Battlefield and COD and Left 4 Dead everyone was adding one another and joining parties and sending friend requests. I guess alot of people now stick to other platforms like Discord and private chat lobbies rather than being at the mercy of randoms!

@CaptainWow I mainly play with the same friends I have played with since the ps3 era. We have always used private chat because some people are just ignorant (singing,shouting,being abusive etc) so it just makes for a better and more sociable experience.

Also, Ghost of Yotei probably won't be in the top 5 (or 10) bestsellers of 2025, so it would be unfair to put it up against MP games like FC 26 or Battlefield 6. Sequels always seem to sell less because of the perceived need to play the first game as a barrier to entry.

Just finished the amazing GoY - easily my GOTY.

Now looking for my next purchase - NG4 might be next, but I'm still slightly unsure. The Pro enhancements look excellent, but the environments look a bit too samey. Its user score on the PS Store does look very good though.

@Megabeenz Yeah hopefully this isn't the end of NG series. Yakumo and Kenji & Kumori from Ragebound feels like a worthy addition for NG universe.

@Oram77 Maybe it lacks marketing? I didn't see many ads or well known influencers beside Max playing the game before released.

@JustMyOpinion They say that Arc is also great for single players. The servers often bring single players into one session, and it is possible to find nice people when shouting „Don‘t shoot“ and they don’t. So maybe after a few days you could find another single player in a similar time zone with the same ambition who’s sympathetic to you and you play together.

Goes to show that PlayStation is FPS/Sports/GTA machine first with great 1st party exclusives as secondary. And it's not a bad thing. I'm not really sold on Yotei, but will probably get it when it's around 30 bucks.

@PuppetMaster I've seen more edverts on Twitch since it was released then the build up to release. so you could be right with that.

@MidnightDragonDX Why would that matter? This is for one platform, plenty of exclusives have outsold multi platform titles.

@Balaam_ feels pretty shady to suggest people who enjoy BF6 must be lobotomised.

And also incredibly shallow to suggest thats the gameplay loop of Battlefield, it has plenty of depth and its disappointing to see the high and mighty comments.

Fyi I am also really enjoying Yotei.

Sorry but you have to be kidding.
BF6 comes back to what BF3/4 were and is incredible. I rather found the Yotei lacking here because this is just Tsushima on steroids.
I spent thousand hours in BF3 long ago and I find the BF6 to be incredible here.
It will dominate charts for a long time.

Yeah having a group of good team mates here makes a difference. When I play without the it all depends who you get into team and that’s a lottery. But even then having good skill means in most cases you just better than all these noobs.
