Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is enjoying some really positive word of mouth right now.

The game's campaign is playable early, and it's attracting thousands of satisfied reviews on Steam, where the title currently sits at a 'Very Positive' rating.

But it's not just that this is a good Call of Duty campaign — it's that plenty of people are saying it's one of the best they've played in years. Some are even going as far to say that it's one of the strongest campaigns in the entire series.

Indeed, Steam's user reviews are utterly stuffed with praise. Modern Warfare 4 was already being serenaded by most professional critics, but I think the wider fan reaction is super important when it comes to a longstanding franchise like Call of Duty.

Especially when franchise's most recent instalment, Black Ops 7, was torn apart for its bafflingly abstract campaign.

It'll be interesting to see if the PS Store's user rating reaches similar heights. Said rating only becomes available when the full game launches.

Modern Warfare 4's offering is obviously much more traditional and grounded, retaining the relative realism that the sub-series is known for. In short, it just sounds like a rock solid, well paced, and really good looking CoD campaign.
