Available to download now on PS5, the 'Bound by Duty' update for Warhammer 40K: Darktide is a borderline game-changer.
This is another colossal patch for the highly addictive co-op action game, featuring an eye-popping number of gameplay adjustments.
In terms of brand new content, the update adds a new Mortis Trials arena, a new elite enemy type β the Scab Plasma Gunner, of course β and an entirely new weapon, the Power Falchion for the Veteran class.
But really, the most interesting parts of this patch are to do with the aforementioned gameplay changes. Both the Zealot and Psyker have had their talent trees reworked fairly extensively to provide better build variety and more effective perks, while the other three classes have had their trees rebalanced in more specific places.
The tweaks that have the most potential for controversy amongst players, though? The ones that have been made to enemies. On Heresy difficulty and above, most elite enemy types have had their health buffed (significantly, in various cases), which is going to result in some sticky situations.
On top of that, there are pretty widespread weapon tweaks to get used to, and a load of quality of life improvements have been implemented. This includes the ability to replay story-based missions from the campaign, and 1,000 new bonding conversations have been added across all characters β which seems insane.
Oh, and when you hover over the game on your PS5 menu, you'll now hear some of Jesper Kyd's incredibly hype soundtrack.
The patch notes are far too big for us to paste into this article without breaking something, so click through the the official Darktide forums for the full list.
