Hideo Kojima Credit Card

From making movies and podcasts to wanting to create a game in space, it feels like there's nothing Hideo Kojima won't have a good go at. Even then, though, some of his non-video game projects still manage to raise an eyebrow or two: he's now collaborating on the making of a credit card.

Kojima Productions will team up with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group to create a Japan-specific credit card offering you reward points that can be exchanged for items and prizes related to the studio — while providing all the usual services of a credit card.

The design of the card is still in development and it'll only be usable in Japan once launched, but Kojima still shared the news alongside OD and Physint updates for the developer's 10th anniversary showcase. It's scheduled to launch in Japan in the second half of 2026.

Video game companies getting involved in the credit card business is nothing new, as PlayStation itself even offers one that boasts of additional reward points if you buy digital PS5 games using it. You can even customise it and put characters from Uncharted, The Last of Us, and God of War on the front.

Of course, the games from Kojima Productions both past and future were the focus of the event, but Kojima had to slip in another wacky thing he's doing outside of the industry.

As we always say: never change, Hideo.
