Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail Dev Reveals Animal Crossing-Esque Cosy Game 1

Part of its pursuit to take over the world – or, at least, all of your spare time – Genshin Impact maker HoYoverse has revealed cosy game Petit Planet for PC, mobile, and “additional platforms”. Sign-ups for a beta test are live now across PC and mobile.

It’s actually unclear whether PS5 will be included in those “additional platforms”, but given the success of the Chinese studio’s other games on PlayStation, it’s probably a safe assumption. That said, this game is clearly targeting a different demographic to the dev’s other endeavours, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Here’s how the company describes it:

“Petit Planet is a cosmic life simulation game that invites players on a journey fuelled by idyllic yet adventurous lifestyles, unique neighbours, and surprising wonders. Driven by its slogan ‘Weave Your Dreams Beneath the Stars’, the game blends the joy of creation, discovery, and community-oriented experiences, transforming the universe into a canvas for the infinite possibilities of life.”

So, it’s Animal Crossing, then?

Well, sort of. The official website introduces several animal-inspired “neighbours”, who will be living alongside you.

“The journey begins on each player’s planet, where fuzzy Neighbours can connect their home planets,” the press release explains. “As bonds deepen and planets flourish, Luca, the planet’s vitality, will shape each unique planet with different landscapes, brimming with life and energy.”

This being a “cosy” game, you can expect the usual blend of resource gathering and crafting. You’ll also be able to decorate your planet with different furniture, interiors, and so on.

One neat feature which will separate this game from Animal Crossing is the Galactic Bazaar, a kind of online social space where you’ll be able to meet with other players from all around the world. It gives everyone a touching point to connect with users they may otherwise have not met.

Obviously, we’ll need to wait to see if this game is announced for PS5, but is it something you’d personally be interested in? Settle down in the comments section below.
