The best Souls-like not made by FromSoftware, Lies of P has now sold over three million copies since its 2023 release.
To celebrate, all members of the Round8 Studio development team will be rewarded with a two-week holiday, a bonus of 10 million KRW (~£5,400 / $7,300), and a Nintendo Switch 2.
Prequel DLC Lies of P: Overture recently made a splash following its shadow drop announcement at Summer Game Fest, which saw PS5, PS4 players return to the game. The sales announcement doesn't include any Xbox Game Pass players — this is entirely based on purchases.

Round8 Studio also shared the sales update on Twitter, where it thanked its players "from the bottom of our hearts".
The move to celebrate its employees in this fashion follows in the footsteps of Stellar Blade developer Shift Up, which has gifted its workers in the past with new games consoles and bonuses.
In our original Lies of P PS5 review, we awarded an 8/10 rating and said: "Lies of P feels like the result of a developer having already taken multiple stabs at the Souls-like genre, so it's impressive that Round8 Studio has accomplished so much on its first attempt. By fully embracing its dark take on the Pinocchio story, it sets itself apart from anything else available."
Have you tried out the new Overture expansion yet? Let us know in the comments below.

This is how you treat staff, bravo.
Its arguably better than some Fromsoft Soulslikes, as opposed to just the best Soulslike not made by them. Good reward - they deserved it.
Haven't got into the dlc yet as Im finishing my NG+ run of the also excellent First Berserker Khazan.
NB both games have recently added easier difficulty modes (with Khazan the old easy is now called Normal, and a further easier mode has been added).
This is really wholesome and lovely to see a good news story from the gaming industry for once.
Very well deserved too, the game is great and helps to prove that you don't always need live service games to make an impact.
Christ, with that exchange rate, Del and Rodney should have moved to Korea if they wanted to be millionaires.
Korea seems like a nice place.
Incredible game.
Playing to get the platinum trophy at the moment. It deserves way more sales than 3m.
Lies Of P is a fantastic game. Deserves way more than 3 million in sales. Really looking forward to whatever they do next. They have my attention.
Also, this is how an employer should behave to their staff. Reward them well when a job has been done well...
Nice to hear of video game creators being treated well. Western developers could learn a lot from them.
That's how it should be done- no matter the company, or industry. If your workers net you a profit, reimburse them to show you appreciate the staff.
Ahh I read the title and assumed a Switch2 port was in the works... that would/could be awesome, as Lies played excellently on Steamdeck (which should be a reasonable benchmark for indicative S2 performance)
Next headline: "Lies of P in development for Switch 2"
@nessisonett lol😂
I just replayed the base game and played the DLC yesterday, and it's amazing how well made the game is. I hope FromSoft is paying attention because I think LoP is better than any of the From/SoulsBourne titles.
Hey that’s awesome! I just picked up the game and DLC in a bundle sale on PS Store and I’m THOROUGHLY enjoying it! Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get to playing it but I’m glad it worked out this way. Definitely as good as everyone’s been saying. And I’m happy the devs get rewarded like that for their efforts!
It’s refreshing to see these smaller studios treating their staff well, especially compared to the big corporate studios who just seem to create grinds and layoffs.
This is how you treat your staff. We earnt over 200 mil last year and when the boss asked for £100 to take the staff out for a christmas drink he was told "no, its not in the budget" 😂
I like the old saying of "look after your staff and your staff will look after your company"
Christ almighty. Trying to read that headline almost gave me an aneurism.
@Rich33 "Its arguably better than some Fromsoft Soulslikes, as opposed to just the best Soulslike not made by them."
This the type of comment I dislike. Someone copies another, irons out certain aspects and then all of a sudden it's better than the originator's.
Good for them! It's a fantastic game and the DLC only adds to that (despite being tough as nails). It's such a rarity anymore, so I'm always happy to see when companies actually show appreciation for their employees in ways that don't start and end with pizza in the lunch room.
@TheArt
What are you on about? (Did you misread what I said)?
The author (not another commenter if it makes any difference), says Lies of P is the best non FS soulslike - which infers that all FS soulslikes are better.
My comment was that I believe Lies of P surpasses some of the games made by FS.
Good to see the Lies of P and Stellar Blade devs being treated well by the company.
@Rich33 Yes exactly, how the author put it is correct and respectful to the originator, yours isn't. 😉
This game is disappointingly brutal. It takes all the worst of souls form games and make them worst.
Even on the easier difficulty it's still difficult.
@TheArt
OK. So its my opinion that Lies of P surpasses some FS soulslikes that bothers you?
Thats my opinion, not a matter of respect / disrespect, and Im entitled to it. Just because FS 'originated' the genre, doesn't mean that their games are automatically the best, and it certainly isn't incumbent on fans of the genre to believe/ parrot this.
And this is coming from someone who plays a lot of these type of game.
For what its worth, I think Nioh 2 and First Berserker are both right up there too, but Lies of P surpasses them and most of FS's games.
@wilky2988 You're absolutely entitled to your opinion and I respect that, but Lies of P being better than any of FromSoftware's Soulsbourne games? C'mon, you can't really mean that, do you? It's a great game for sure but better than Elden Ring? Better than Bloodborne? Better than Dark Souls 3? Maybe even Sekiro? Just no way.
@DETfaninATL at least I'm glad all critics gathered on MC don't see LoP better than a single FS game.
The best soulslike not from fromsoft is Nioh. Very nice to see it's sold well despite being on gamepass. Should ensure we can look forward to more iterations. I expected it on ps+ this last month ahead of the dlc, would have been a smart move, perhaps it's the essential offering for July?
Hello there fellow gamers.
BIG fan of Fromsoftware and souls-like games here.
Lies of P is, indeed, better than most Fromsoft games.
Not all of them, but definitely some.
There are many traits that soluls-like games have, such as stamina bar, dodge roll/side step, inter connected level design, challenging but fair combat mechanics and lore.
Not every game has all of them and not every game knows how to make said mechanics work.
That being said, Lies of P clearly took inspiration on both Bloodborne(my personal favourite Fromsoft game) and Sekiro in terms of aesthetic and atmosphere and combat mechanics.
And it all works really well. Also the game has an actual story.
So there is that. Excited to play Overture and get my ass kicked.
Cheers and happy gaming everyone
Love that they get properly rewarded for the results of their hard work. It's a great game (that I am yet to finish) so they deserve every sale they get.
I just bought it during the half off sale. I'm sure i was the 3 millionth customer. 🫠
@Dodoo Hold your horse. Do you know the work culture in Asia? And their salary?
My only question is, can I pause the game yet?
That's the one thing that always pulls me away from sort of likes his the inability to actually pause the game like you can in Stellar Blade
@mrbone not specifically no. I’m sure they have grinds too but at least they seem to be awarded for it instead of being laid off! At least in a few cases anyway.
Hello, Round8 studio, it is I your beloved employee in the north. Please, send me the cash and Switch 2 asap, trust me bro.
