Developer Tribute Games is keeping busy; not only is it working on Marvel Cosmic Invasion, it's just announced Scott Pilgrim EX, another pixelated side-scrolling beat-'em-up.
Playable in up to four-player co-op, this is a brand new game based on the beloved graphic novel series, telling an original story co-written by Bryan Lee O'Malley himself.
Toronto has been overtaken by three gangs — The Vegans, The Robots, and The Demons. It's up to Scott and his crew to fight back and save the city.
There are seven playable characters, each with a unique moveset. They can also be further upgraded with boosts to stats and special items.

Fans of Scott Pilgrim's first pixel art brawler will be pleased to know that Anamanaguchi is coming back to supply the soundtrack to this new game.
It looks like it should be another great beat-'em-up from a developer that's really making a name for itself. Scott Pilgrim EX comes to PS5 and PS5 in 2026.

I'm really excited for this. I never expected a new Scott Pilgrim game.
I really liked the first game and I'm glad this game is in a developer's hands that aren't Ubisoft.
Was not expecting a new Pilgrim game. Looking forward to this.
Woohoo! The first one is great. Love that all the same pieces came together again. This wouldn't be the same without Anamanaguchi
Yes please. I've been playing too much AAA stuff, and need to re-install all my great beat em ups.
I remember back when the SP film came out, and gamer dudes were fawning over a smart lady with colored hair that dug nerdy stuff. No quicker way to get roasted on the internet these days. I think it turned out a lot of dudes just couldn't handle that, lol.
I watched the movie way back then and I still don't understand it, challenging 7 boyfriends to get the girl? Why the heck the protagonist want that bicycle girl, just leave her and get another one that already interested in him (forget her name).
Wish this team (or the one that make street of rage 4) make golden axe beat 'em up though, now that's the game I wanna play 😃
One of the hightlights for me. I will be getting this one for sure.
Whoooo some love for Toronto! ❤️🦝
At first I was like I didn’t know what game it was until I saw Scott pilgrim tying up his shoelace and when he turned around I was super excited huge fan of both the comics
@wiiware knives chau is the one that Scott was first dating
@Paulbuck28 I only saw the movie, I heard there's also comic, maybe the story explained more in the comic. The movie is okay, the story is just a little weird.
I will never get the appeal of this franchise since I found the movie pretty average other than couple creative choices. Game looked slow and boring too.
Beating up Vegans sounds satisfying though. I am kidding, I guess...
@wiiware yeah I love the movie but the comic is better and there are some major differences between the movies and comics
@Scottyy i don’t know who the target audience was @ the time the movie and first game came out, but my pre-teen self loved it.
this new game on the other hand looks really underwhelming and as if they took some steps back.
@nomither6
It didn't impress me a lot like I said. I was in high school when I watched it if I remember correctly.
