Minecraft’s blocky look is iconic, so while it’s no longer an indie game helmed by a single individual, that can never change.

Series shepherds Mojang have been working on a visual overhaul for quite some time, however, and you’ll get your first taste of it later this week, from 17th June, when the Vibrant Visuals toggle deploys.

Despite what the name may lead you to believe, this is less about oversaturating the colours and more about giving a lot more depth to each scene. Different biomes will now have appropriate tones applied to them, so icy regions will have a blue undercurrent while hotter areas will leverage warmer hues.

You’ll also find improved lighting, volumetric fog, and more. The goal is not to alter the gameplay in any way, but to bring a little more realism and sheen to each scene. Personally we think it looks really good.

But how are you feeling about these enhanced Minecraft visuals? Make everything look better in the comments section below.
